View Full Version : which Gaskets should i use?

I'm pulling my 460 out this winter and taking of the logs and intake and getting them polished. New valve covers also. What kind off gaskets should i use? What sould i stay away from? Were sould i get them?

Don't bother with gaskets,check the manifold mating surface for straightness with a sraight edge.If it's good ,use the high temp copper gasket maker,that's available at your local speedshop.If you find the surface uneven ,or the manifold warped,you have to take your manifolds to a machine shop to mill it straight.I never used gaskets on either BBF or BBC!Some people may not agree http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif,it's up to you to use or not use gaskets.

Yes use the copper for exaust the common metal gaskets can cause your aluminum exaust to warp I never used gaskets on any log exaust and never had a problem.. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

AntRant, the ONLY place to use the copper gasket maker is on the exhaust. Use regular gaskets for the intake and valve covers.

Ant, sorry I didn't reply,but the guys helped you out anyway.I should have mentioned the copper stuff is for exhaust only.
