I need to get a new fuel pump and I need some help on choosing the right one. Is the Carter "Marine Pump" the way to go? It only puts out 2 lbs of pressure...Is that enough? Or is it safe to use the Holley Racing style car pumps?? (6-7 lbs) I need to get this tomorrow morning so I can go out in the afternoon.
Thanks

Depends on engine fuel demand. Motor, what do you have and how much HP?

2 lbs. of pressure ain't gonna git it. Try using a holly "blue" pump with the regulator and set it to about 7-8 lbs of pressure. Plenty of fuel for that engine and the price isn't all that high,(100-125 depending where you buy it from).

holley blue pump will work for a while but not a very good buy for the money. If your not worried about coastgaurd approval call summit and order their pump part #sum-G3134 along with a holley presure regulator. It's alcohol compatable which means if you ever wanted to run AV gas you can and also if you ever got some regular gas with a little water in it the pump WON'T turn to crap! The Holley blue pump will imidiatly. This is a great way to go for around $128.00 for both pump and regulator. Also it draw's only 2amps and is in a billet aluminum housing.

I'm running a Carter (I think its p/n 4594, don't have my catalogues handy) that doesn't require a reg and getting 7lbs of pressure @idle with #8 fuel line in an "open" engine config. Have had no problems in last two years while my buddy has gone thru 2 blue Holleys. They are less expensive than the Holley.

75-Elim, I've seen to many Holleys take a dump!...Barry Grant all the way. they seem to live the longest!

I've been happy with the Mallory 110 (110 gph) regulated to 7 psi. I understand they have a marine version.
