MOM and DAD have their trailer there..all worried about the flooding...no problems there, but the state camp ground next door looked like a lake....

There's a store that sells T-shirts at the 2nd entrance to the beach...cant remember the name tho.............they have a "wall of shame" featuring pics from the dunes in the past years and I was in there with a few friends last year getting some shirts and my sister says..........hey T, that sure looks like your wreck............low and behold I had made the wall of shame from our rollover in 2000..was a nasty one.... There are some pretty cool pics up there but some real dumbass's (my situation excluded of course and I wasn't driving ;) )
I guess people get excited from the long drive and once they get there they're so anxious to hit the beach they chance the river, even towing rigs like that trailer.....its stupid when the river is that high but it makes for great entertainment. We watched some kids in a jeep try and climb the bank one time and they hit it and went straight up in the air and came back down on the "tailgate" and broke the kids neck in back. It was crazy to watch.

The trick is to cross 2 hours after High tide.
We time our arrival at Pismo so we're usually at the creek 2 hrs past High tide.
On an average day this will mean fresh water flowing out of the creek, and the creek will be at it lowest RELATIVE level.
The times are right on, but the tide/ocean levels are unpredictable.
Weather activity in the western hemiphere usually effects the high and low levels, and the creek level too.
Cross as close to the beach as possible, stay on hardpack, keep moving.
11 psi tire pressure is the magic number.
I don't think I'd ever attempt it in a storm condition.

Cool pics HCS, I've always tried to time my arrival around low tide (especially if pulling a big trailer) A Ford would have made it through :D

I don't think I'd ever attempt it in a storm condition.
I would'nt suggest 11psi for every one. Every tire is differant. If you run a 16.5" wheel and run 11psi you can very easly blow the bead if you dont know what your doing.
I have to agree with you on the crossing in a storm, no way no how.
There is a bunch of us heading to Pismo for Super Bowl weekend (weather permiting and if not we will probably go to Dumont) if any ones wants to come out your more than welcome. We have a little more info at op6c.com
