where are the small block jets? as i read the listings all i see are big blocks.
just curious to see how many small block jets, like my self, are out there. seems that big blocks are so much more expen$ive to buy for.

I just replaced my small block 350 olds with a 455.
The small block was great!
Alot higher rpms
I get a little more speed from the 455 but
not near what you would think.
less that 15mph.
The big blocks are really not that much more,
you just have to start all over and that gets pricey.
Except for olds.
In that case many of the parts are interchangeable.
Anyway thats my take on it

The reason there aren't more small blocks running around is because jets "LOVE TORQUE" and big blocks have plenty of it for example a 500hp small block vs 500hp big block you would be able to run a larger impeller with the B.B. so you can spin more water. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

The small block can be build to give good torque. The trade out for the less torque is less weight. If you are getting a boat that does not weight to much a small block that is built good will do fine. We run small blocks in the aluminum river boats and they work great. In the Eagle 19' sport that I play with is a 383 ci stroker making 467 hp and 460 torque at 5100 rpm. It runs 86 MPH at 4000 ft. Unless you are going to build a big block with lots of power, the weight will kill you. The lake type boats are a lot heavier than our boats, so I don't speak with a bunch of authority on them. But for us guys running/racing white water rivers the small block work great and are cheaper to build/run. Check out www.jetboatracing.com (http://www.jetboatracing.com) or www.eagle-marine.com (http://www.eagle-marine.com) for an idea of the boats we run.

I have a small block that was reliable for 8 years till I started messing with it. I'm stroking the thing right now. 351 ford now it's a 406 c.i. I will stick with the smaller motor to save weight. seems like when I add ice chest one other person slows me down alot. gas milage is great and compared to the rpm and speed other people are running this thing is cool!
