EFI Conversion????????

First off, I'm not really a gear head. I have a 7.4 Merc that is carbed. I'd like to convert it to EFI. I also want to keep the motor as stock as possible, no supercharging, etc. What is the most cost effective way I can do this? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hard to say. If your not a gear head i'd keep it stock or find a mercruiser efi to put on it. The 500 HP efi systems used go for around 2k. But you'd have to have a engine guy set it up for you.

Why go to the expense of EFI? If you're looking for speed, doubt you'll see any. If you have a driveability issue, get it fixed. A new carb. is only $500 or so. If the money is burning a hole in your pocket, get new heads and cam. :D

I guess I was thinking about reliability. But, maybe that's just cost prohibitive and I should be looking at something else to help make my engine as reliable as possible. Thanks for the opinions. I appreciate them.
