Besides the tour boats. Grandpa had the last wooden hull 24 daycruiser that Cambell made (seemed so damn big). He had the engine built by Bobby Unser. Parnelli Jones had a green Cambell. I remember being in the boat when we came out of Havasu Springs grandpa raced Parnelli and beat him. (with 8 people in the boat. My Grandpa would shit if he knew the speeds I was reaching on water.
Anyway, the biggest boat I remember seeing was the 28' Daycruiser that Cambell made.

I don't know about Havasu, but on the strip, I remember a boat that stayed at Moovalya Keys that was about 30'. In huge letters on the side, it said, "HONDO". Everytime we saw it we would say how big that was and it should be up on Havasu. This was about the mid-80's.

I think that boat is still around too. I believe it was the "honocho" or "Honcho". It used to be parked at the house at the south entrance to the keys.

I remember that. It was (is?) still around in the early 90's. white with green, hardwood dancefloor, 6X9's everywhere.
I think it was called "Green Limosuine".
Very cool.

HONDO is either a 36 Apache or Cig. It comes up for sale every year or so. The first owner was John Peterson out of Phoenix, but had a home in the Keys.

When we had our place in Parker I think the first HAUNCHO was a 27-30 Hallet. It looked like a monster compared to all the large 21 ft boats. Yes the same guy also later had the APACHE.

Actually that's "Honcho" and was owned by John Peters. It's now in the hands of his son Doug. Honcho burned several years ago and was repaired by putting a newer Hallet deck and interior on the older hull.
John, unfortunately, suffered a heart attack a few years ago, and was locally renowned for his annual Birthday parties which always fell on Labor Day Weekend.
The Apache was owned by a different person who used to stay in the Keys.

We moved here in 78' and I remember
my parents friends having a 26 and it was
huge. At the time we had a 21, which was
the norm.
Now the biggest I have seen on Havasu is
a 42' Foutain. (I think it was a 40 or 42')
Huge... Beautiful!! Way to big for this lake.

The Honcho that I remember was owned by an older guy that kept it at Parker. He passed away right after he had redone the boat, new paint, new
upholstery, new trailer, new twin turbo gentrys, it was like a new boat and
it ran over 100 mph. right after he died, Mike Buckley from Palm Springs bought it and then Aaron and Steve at Savage Marine put some blown engines in it. It was a 41' Apache. Mike bought a deckboat from me and
sold the Apache about 3 years ago. Haven't seen Honcho since.http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/1106Dscf0027.jpg

PS--I've also seen a 47' Fountain around the Keys in Parker and it was the SC model which is much larger than the regular Fountains.
