First thing is you must have your image hosted somewhere on the internet.. This can be ***boatimage center or elsewhere, doesn't matter. What you can't do is have it on you own computer and have it appear in a thread.
Assuming you done the above...
Bring the image up on screen wherever you have it hosted (we'll assume ***boat image center for now).
Right click on the image
A drop down menu will appear at the bottom will be properties
Click on properties.
A window will popup showing information on the photo.
One of the thing will be the URL address which starts with http....
Highlight the address (starting with the http) with your cursor
Go do edit on your tool bar (edit) and click "copy" (this copys the address you just highlighted to the clipboard on your computer)
Now go to the thread you want to post in (a second window open is handy for this)
When you post you will see a series of buttons at the top of the posting window.
Click on IMG.The button at the top with the mountain on it.
A separate window will pop up that will have http.... in it. The http... will be highlighted. Hit delete. Now the box will be blank.
Now go to your tool bar again (edit) and click on "paste".
This pastes the address of the picture (which you copied earlier) into the little window.
Click done or whatever it says to complete. You will now see the image address code appear within your posting window.
Its important you only have one http series within your IMG tags which is the reason we hit delete above. Otherwise you end up with two and it won't work.
When finished your code should look something like this (with no spaces) and substituting [ ] for my ( ).
(IMG]http://yourpictureaddress[/IMG)
You can type message above or below the IMG tags but don't disturb them or anything between them because that is your picture address code.
In other words you could have...
--------------------------------
Hi, this is my boat
(IMG]http://yourpictureaddress[/IMG)
For more info call such and such.... and so on.
------------------------------
In the above example one line of text would appear above your photo and one below. The part between the IMG tags is your photo.
hope that helps.
the great one Rexone posted this.............

Stole this from another post:
ya gotta post 'em in the Image Center, the Image Center can be found off ***boat.net .or click this link http://www.***boat.com/image_center/index.php .
Sign up for an account. Upload your photos from your PC. Use the 'Uplink Photos' link then the Browse button to find them on your PC. Hint...if you have large picts, resize them first. Nothing larger than 1024x768 although 800x600 or something is good too.
After the pict is uploaded click it open all the way. Place your mouse on the pict, do a right click, select Properties. Use your mouse to select the Address (URL) then do a right click, Copy.
Go back to the forum. Open or create the thread where you wanna post.
Type in some text or whatever then position the cursor where you want the pict inserted. Press the
button.
A new box will open. Do a Control-V to paste that URL you copied earlier. Hit OK. You'll see a string surrounded by IMG tags. Preview it then post it. That's it
I will be trying to post some in a few.

Apparently my computer took my last signature line comment seriously... My cd drive just crapped out  . I've been dealing with this POS computer for 3 years, I think I am going to have to upgrade VERY soon.

HB Image Center will only allow pics up to a certain size to be posted. Check the post at the top of Hot Spots West. You can resize those pics using a Photo program. You should already have one if you have a newer computer. If you have a digital, it probably came with this kind of software. Another alternative would be to post them at hotboatpics.com. I don't believe they need to be a certain size over there.

Have been trying to get the POS computer to let me post, but the CD drive won't recognize the disc's with my pic's on them (these things happen when you are still running Window '95!!) . Will have to burn them onto a floppy at work and try again. Wish I could get to ***boat from work, but the firewall is TIGHT. Will have some pic's up by this weekend, (I hope).

I'm figuring out my posting problem piece by piece.
Problem # 1. Old computer with old hardware and software trying to run new technology.
Fix # 1. Talked to the I/M at work, he suggested swapping my 8X cd for the 32X out of a freeby computer I have in storage, that way it MIGHT read the CD/RW discs I'm trying to use. Also suggested upgrading software to at least Windows 98, since I have the install discs. Will be working on these this weekend.
Problem # 2. New technolgy: I'm lost here, learning more with each mistake.
Problem # 3. Just figured out that my camera is taking pictures at high resolution, like each pic is between 650-700 KB, about 2200x1580 pixels!!!! And I don't have any photo editing programs!!! I found this out when I transfered the pic's to floppies so my POS computer could read them, and only got 2-3 pictures per disc!!! Now I have to read the camera instructions and figure out how to back the resolutuion down.
Anyone have idieas how I can get the pic's I have resized so I can post them?????
One again, I'm computer challenged, and the computer is still winning.

Don't give up the fight!!
There are many photo software programs to resize pics, some actually come with the digital camera :D You can resize the picture, and then upload it to the image center. Some peeps on board can help you if e-mail them your photo...you could start a thread with this. I know Ahhell has a photo resizing program, I don't, or I would help you out....
Good Luck!

Problem right now is that I can't download from my camera to my computer. Non-compatablity issue. Once I upgrade to W-98 i will be able to down load, and have reset my camera to a smaller file setting that (I hope) will be more useful here. Spent less than 5 minutes reading adn found like 5 things aabout it that I didn't know :hammerhea !!!!
I am going to try to post a couple of the pic's I have to HB pics adn see what happens......
Back in a few, I hope.. :220v:

Hey, I figured out how to turn it on (the camera----), and got it to take pictures, AND how to view them. What more did I need to know??
Me: "Hey honey, did you know the camera has a 3:1 digital zoom!!!??" :boxed:
Yeah, okay, maybe I should have read the directions first, then I could be posting instead of  about not being able to post.
Kim,
Mine is Good, Better, Best (3:2), and Best (frickin huge). Think I am going to try at the Better setting and see what happens, but willl take the same shots at Good, JUST IN CASE
Of course it's raining today, so can't get any good pic's, and I'm not pulling it out of the carport in the rain, cuz it might get WET. :p

Link to some free photo software links (http://www.***boat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59390&highlight=free+photo)
Ideally for forum you should resize to 600-750 wide max and try to keep file size around 150K or less (100 is better)

Ya'all bear with me a few more days, I went out and bought 128 MB of ram, and a pci/usb adapter today, will bring me up to a whopping 133 MB of RAM :D (have to take out the awesome 32 MB plug-ins I have now) to go with the 2 GB hard drive I'm currently running. I will be shut down tomorrow :frown: for a dump and rebuild, and loading w-98 on the POS computer. I will actually be able to hook up the camera and process my own pic's. :mix:
I also bought a new machine with Pentium Celeron, 4 GB drive and 256 MB RAM, etc, :2purples: and will be adding another 256 MB to it, along with W-XP, and some serious Photo editing software (thanks Kim Hanson and Rexone). This one SHOULD be one line by Tuesday (hopefully)!! :hammerhea
I'm computer challenged, and the computer is winning, but not for long!! :boxingguy Here comes the nitrous!!!!

Well,
I'm back, and now on the new machine. Still working the bugs out, and trying to get all my favorites back. Now running Pentium Celeron with 768 MB RAM, and some other touches. Once I get it figured out will try editing and posting pic's again.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
