Thinking hard on decision to purchase a brand new Essex 22' with Merc. 350mag with Bravo.
Does anyone have experience with Essex? Their customer relationship? After purchase promises? Their record performance of standing behind their product?
Anyone - Anyone
Thank You

We've purchased two boats from Essex and both the before and after sale treatment has been outstanding. The 22 is a great boat. I know they had 2-3 of them on the showroom floor when I was there yesterday. As I said, our experience with everyone at Essex, from the owners on down, has been great. They don't build the fastest boats, but they are a solidly built boat.

We have had nothing but great service and support as well as relationship with the Essex folks.

We absolutely love ours, and have had great experience all the way through, from sales to service.
We have the 21' Sterling w/6.2 B3. We really like that combination. You should talk to someone running the 22' with the 350 mag, it probably has enough torque to get out of the hole, but with any load at all, the 350 will likely run out of ponies sooner than later.
What kind of boating are you doing and where? Answers to those questions may impact your decision.
I know its more than you asked for, but I sat in my boat this weekend and I got a little fired up, can't help it! :)

That was the vendors issue, not Essex. But this about the boats, not the regattas.

nice boat. lot of folks happy with them
might consider opting for a little more motor though, maybe a 6.2??

If you can swing it, take the 496 HO in that boat, should run very well. The 6.2 with the bravo 3 will be good setup as well. Our first was the 350 MAG with the Bravo 3 on the 21 Sterling, loved that combo, ran 55-60 all day long and the holeshot was excellent.

Essex boats are a great choice if you want a strong hull.

our sterling has got seven years of hard use and the only failure was the water pump. i would buy another boat from them again .

Essex is a well built boat. Like previously stated, get the 496 HO, cuz you will want it later when the SQUIRTERS start a dog fight. Also, work on your own graphics and color combos. Essex is a little weak in that dept. Happy Boating :rollside:

Hopefully soon. There have been a few snags here and there that were a result of my accident so hopefully those should finally all be resolved so that I can get back into boating.. :eat:

You would be dissapointed with that motor in a 22' boat. I have the 21' Sterling with the 350 MAG & BravoIII and it is barely fast enough to get away from lake lice...62mph.
IMO the 6.2 isn't enough either, only 320 HP vs. the the 350MAG at 300 HP.
Other than that you have selected a very solid boat. This is one of a few MFRs that pay attention to details.

My remarks are the same as above about the motor. My saying is buy the biggest you can because whatever you get its always not enough. As for Essex, I love mine, built solid with little to no problems. The only thing I found is that there service prices are a little high for me, but Ron does you with you sometimes.
