Buy a new one, your life should be worth $275.00. The Canyon rudder is worth every penny. So is your life...C'mon, think about it!!!!

Hey dmontzsta,
I agree with these guys, don't mess with a used rudder. Money well spent for a new one. I'm sure the canyon piece is first class, but there's another source too. You can still get them at glenwood marine. Probably where the rudder in your Lavey came from in the first place. lol
I looked at the site and they offer 12 different versions, gotta be one there that'll fit your needs.
http://www.glenwoodmarine.net/
I'm just posting this for someone like me that might be on a budget
(ie. cheap bastard). Nothing nicer than custom made parts like canyon offers for sure.

Hey Rich, Thanks for the advice, from one cheap bastard to another :D you have alot of pull. haha :D I will just hold off and buy a new one, now the question is...
what kind do I buy? I am not drag racing, I just need an all around good rudder kind of like "all purpose tires" so to speak.

To me a rudder is your life, buy the best! The rudder I told you about they run on the BAF's. Greg, I don't know who make's it, but it works good.

So I was just about to buy the Canyon rudder and found out they only make it in a wedge. So is Rex and Glenwood the only other places? sucks too...the Canyon rudder seemed like a good quality piece.

EDDIE MARINE has them too.
But to tell the truth I been waiting almost a month just to get my water pick up's from them. So who ever you go with make sure it is in stock first!

Dang Mike, I like that. I will go with the steel though, it seems a bit stronger, I will be whiping it off with WD40 and a rag after pulling the boat out. Time to jerk a little out of the savings :D Boat needs new tires too... I love this time of year.
I think my dad emailed you today, he is looking for the bushings that go in the electric cav motor, dont know if you have them or not.
What are you guys opinions on stailess vs. steel? or chrome plated steel?

that sounds like an un heard of price if it's a 17-4 s.s. rudder

Rexone

It's 304 which has proven very adequate.
Can also do 17-4 for a little more (no where near double).
