Considering the length, and speed I think it will be really hard for this to be broken. Especially with the current satus of the K-boats. When Gordy set that record the K class was huge.

Wayne, one of the "specs" you asked about is the requirement that the boat IS registered to race, in class, at that event.....That sorta hurts the NKRA boats since none of them are capsulated, and APBA won't allow open Ks at their events. IMO, there is only one racer that has a snowballs chance in hell of breaking that record, (other than Gordy breaking his own) and that racer is Duff Daley.........And he would be in a capsule..........Ray

sorry wayne no nitro, we took the boat up to devils lake just the way we circle race it with 60 gears 30% over on the blower it was a 496 ci. with a 11 1/4-16 prop at 7800 rpm. my dad ran nitro only once in 1972 kilo's and he only ran 10% and set the kilo record at 140 average, that's when that bone head wilton put 25% in julians for the circles and locked the engine up and destroyed the boat and almost killed him at parker.

We all know a runnerbottom flat will go well over 170. Unfortunately nobody knows how fast a Biesemeyer can go because the motors are built to last, they're not just run for a few seconds. Remember a Biesemeyer is a "true flat" so its probably never going to run 170.
The Kilo record was 140 in 1974 it has only improved 6 miles per hour in 31 years. Very few guys are willing to go after this record. I know of several K owners of old who claim to have run well over 150 in testing... one guy claimed over 160 (in a hondo sprint). Like Gordy says, talk is cheap... but the record is real!
