Does anyone know how they code the Optima batteries for manufacture date? I am going to buy a couple of new one's, and don't want to buy some that have been on the rack forever if I can sort out the newer one's.

I was looking earlier to day for Optima batteries online and found a place that sells the deep cycle blue tops for $148 with free shipping. Might be worth the extra couple bucks for the hassle. Their address is: ajusa.com :rollside:

WAAAY better than anything else. The only thing that has come close is black panther which is another dry cell. I've tried them all except turbo start. I put them in everything I have now. I had one on the shelf for 2 yrs and unlike a norm batt that would be flat it still had a 85% charge and if you have a good charger the recovery time is hours faster than anything else. So when the stereo in the boat killed the batt it would have a very good charge on it when we got back to the dock.
