I guess with spring coming up I better start working on the boat. The last time I had it in the water was August at the river. And the Jet started whistling or whining pretty loud. It sounds like I have a geardrive in the back of my boat. Anyidea what it could be? Other than the helacious whine, it runs fine.

Have you greased the bearing lately?

Hey Jeff... You remember the whine right??
Cant be from lack of grease then, cause I greased it before every big weekend. Doesnt mean it didnt go bad though. I'll start there.

Are you sure it's coming from the pump? It could be your alternator, try taking the belt off and running it again.

Josh, It sounds like your thrust bearing is gone. Don't drive the boat until you get it fixed or your impeller will cut into the case. Start your boat on the trailer and put a listening device on the bearing housing to your ear, like a long screw driver or a mechanics stetoscope. If it sounds like crap You need a rebuild. Nine times out of ten, it is the jet drive thrust bearing. :frown: Good luck. Jim www.performancejet.com

OOOOOooo... not good!! I started hearing it on Saturday, and ran it hard until Sunday. I guess I'll really try to figure out where its coming from and start a teardown. It cant be that hard.
Jeff--- Dude, I thought you were chasing someone and we were going to box. Backup man!!!!!! :boxingguy :boxingguy

Have you tried to unbolt the h-bar from the engine, thus disconnecting the engine from the pump, and start the motor on the trailer. If the whine is gone, its in the pump, if its still there, its coming from the engine.

I'm going to try these things this weekend. Thanks for the input, and I'll post up if I have questions. I think Jim is correct, and I'll start there.
