So after a good day at the boat show my buddy goes to the parking stucture and his car is gone. :crossx: 04 GMC Denali on 24's. Sweet ride. I felt so bad. As he was talking to the cops outside of the convention, a fight starts to break out with a bunch of hood rats. Right in front of the cops as if they were not even there. One guy ran up to a car and started to punch the window but couldn't break it then ran off. Crazy stuff. He tried to activate his onstar but they haven't been able to locate a signal. Good day turned into a shitty one. :skull:

Yeah, there were more than a few "undesirables" around the outside of the convention center. Didn't really care to have the wife and kids around that environment.

Not sure. I was thinking the same thing. I couldn't believe that it happend in the daytime but then again it was in a parking structure. Another buddy said he had noticed a couple of guys standing around the structure when he pulled in. Sucks that you can't even be safe in a "secured" parking area.

That sux ass man! I hope they catch them soon. My pops and I saw the prices of the snack bar and decided we would take a walk outside to get something to eat and get a little excersise at the same time, after a few blocks down we decided that it probably wasn't a good idea. We turned around and paid the 25 bux for 2 hamburgers fries and cokes. I HATE LA!

I hear that! As we were leaving there was a big fight in the middle of the intersection right outside the convention center. God I hate going there! Thank God I vallet my truck and they parked it right outside the doors in front of the houseboat.

I've always hated LA. Used to work downtown and there is some crazy sh!t that happens everyday. The other hall, I believe the South, was a Black College convention (please, I'm not being racial or anything, I parked over there and saw all the signs ...). Whenever I park in LA, I always am prepared to come out to no car .... Oh well, sorry to hear about your ride ... :angry2:

Onstar uses a cellular signal to communicate with the car. The unit is accessible (read disconnectable) from the glovebox. If these guys got by the theft deterent, then Onstar is nothing for them.

I'm the lucky owner of the 04' Denali that was jacked at the L.A Boat show. Let me know if you see a Black Denali on 24" with a Malibu sticker on the back window rolling in your neck of the woods. If your going to the boat show this weekend don't park your car in the parking structure; park valet or in the lots across the street from the convention center...somewhere in the open.

I took the "onstar" stickers off of my Suburban when I bought it, as well as the "Trident" security system (ignition lock out) stickers.
Unfortunately GM has made the Onstar system far too easy to defeat.
Sorry about your vehicle getting stolen... that sucks.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but normally the Boat Show, Staples and Convention Center are pretty mild....(knock on wood) but I never have issues....
However, that day there was a College Conference in one of the convention center halls that had a ton of high school kids out in the area....folks were cruising, kids trying to pick up on chix, fight broke out when we walked across the street...guy started chasing another guy, etc....just a bunch of crap which would normally happen when you add about 2K high school kids in the mix. It definitely brought out want to go to college type, but also the bad kids that just wanted to hang out where the crowd was.
Sux to hear someone got jacked....just a bad mix of folks at the convention center that day.

The upgraded lojack & service will call you on up to 5 numbers (I think, may be more) as soon as your vehicle is moved. You don't have to find it stolen and then notify the police. You can do it instantly or try to catch the bastards yourself. It's around $800, I forget how much the monitoring is.
I have the basic lojack on my burb, but I am serious considoring ordering the upgraded unit & service. I keep the onstar for the emergency service, but i would never reley on it for a theft.

This happens every year, The naacp and other groups promote BLACK going to college expo, This usually brings out all of L.A.'s shit bags. The crips and the bloods. I guess this year wasnt that bad, last year there was a full on riot..... Kids who are going to college already have their apps in and are accepted and know where they are going.....

I just bought an 04 Lexus that had the Lojack early warning already on it and Lojack charged me 99 bucks to change the info into my name
I think the system is around 900 new and they have dropped the service charge so it is a one time deal. I drove the car with old batteries in the transmitter and their system sent out the message to check on my car. I would have not spent the coin to buy it new but for 99 bucks it was worth it. I hope everything works out for you.

lojack is the way to go because what I am hearing is onstar is easly disabled thur the glove box. Onstar is run off a cell phone signal, so if the car is in a location that doesn't have service then they can't track it. Pretty f@#$ing stupid it you ask me. Lojack is hiden somewhere in the car and I believe it runs on it's own power source, so it's harder to disable. Lojack is a gps system, so as soon as it's activated they can pin point it's location. Onstar isn't covering anything. I have been told I should go after the parking structure and try to get money from them even though they say they're not liable. I guess there is a loop hole.

Not entirely correct. Lojack sends out a signal that the police cruisers can pick up and then follow the arrows to. It also has it's limitations. Get it out in the mountains and it's useless. There have been several cases that I know of first hand of generators and construction equipment equipped with lo-jack disappearing and then turning up years later in the middle of no-where, only because an officer with a Lojack sensor on his car happened out there and picked up a signal. One of them, a generator, ended up in the mountains running a pot farm. It was missing for about 3 years. The Lojack was going off the whole time.
