lifters and pushrods in the engine and moving valves? How much PV clearance did you have?

Because it's not a Chevy??? :D :D :D
Did it turn over before you put the heads on? Without plugs you wouldn't be fighting compression. What has changed since you were able to roll it over?

yes it did turn over before the heads on and after i put the heads on it turned over without plugs the only thing i can think of is some of my timming cover bolts were to long maybe there is one stoping the chain from moving. i havent changed anything the only thing is its in the boat now.

Start looking at what you changed since the last time it turned over. ;)

Good point. He did say it's in the boat now and I do know it's a jet. What kind of shape is your pump in? Did you turn it over before you set the engine in?

the pump turned fine before i put the engine inn. i pulled the water pump plate just now and backed some of the timming cover bolts out and still nothing. im thinking its in the back half of the motor. squirtin thunder sugessted i look to the drive line and or flywheel, possibly my flywheel bolts are to long. jordy i did turn the motor over before i put it inn the boat that was before the flywheel and bellhousing were bolted on.

Flywheel or flexplate, that is probably where your problem is. I know my jet drive line has 2 bolts under the flange, then the 4 that hold the drive flange on. It would be easy to use one that is too long in that area........And, I've had it happen on a BBC when someone used "flywheel" bolts on a flexplate........MP

I meant that as a compliment. All I bring to the table is 30 years of mistakes. :D That's how you learn.
I could tell you some tales.

No substitute for experience, even if it is mistakes. Thats how we had to learn. But still, the more I learn, the less I know........MP
