Just got my new HB mag and was flipping thru the shots of the LA show and I see a green 26 DCB. First... did someone twist Daves arm to do this paint job? I mean he normally runs a pretty consurvitive paint job on his boats. I thought that boat looked trick! How about the lines of the new boat are they much different then the original 26? Anyone have one yet??

The F26 at the boat show was owned by a guy from back East. The owner picked out the colors, I kind of thought it was goddy at first but you know its kind of grew on me just a little, and I mean just a lillte. Also when I was talking to Dave he did say that the bottom was changed just a little from the orginal 26.

I kinda thought that as well when I first saw it! But with the cromed engine and the Puter hardware I can imagine it!! I hope HB does an article on it soon. Was this the first one out of the mold?

As far as I know (I was told from the guys at DCB) the bottom change occured on the 2001 models before the release of the new canopy boat. I owned a 2000 and now own (trying to sell) a 2001. The 2001 has a stepped center sponson and the 2000 and older 26's did not. I was told the only changes on the canopy were the deck and some inner-liner (sp) components.

MrHavasucat,I am looking at a (2001)26mach open bow.I was curious as to how much heavier the open bow is as opposed to the hard deck model?

I really could not tell you, I would call Dave and ask him. If you are not set on an open bow I am selling mine, and will make someone a good deal. Good luck with the shopping.

Or if your set on an open-bow I have one that I need to sell. Its a 2002 brand new with only 10 hours on it.

Kab's boat is very nice, and it is an open bow like he stated. I would take a look at it before you decide on the other one you are looking at.

MHC,I would prefer a closed deck. The one that I am currently looking at I found on the internet saw the 505 area code (N.M) called the guy, turns out he lives about a mile away from me.I saw your piece the weekend of the AHBA poker run in the channel. If price were not a factor your boat would be in my driveway right now that thing is flippin gorgeous.Lou at the boat brokers was telling me the other day that is as nice a boat as he has ever seen,Period!.The one here in New Mexico has a normally aspirated 540.The guy says she will run mid to upper 80's.We are currently about 7k off from it being to good of a deal to pass up.BTW I really appreciate all of your feedback thanks.

Playdeep,
Thanks for the compliments on the boat, I wish I could afford to keep it and the new boat we just bought, but I can't swing it. Good luck on the deal you are working on, sounds like a nice boat as well.

Not yet I have a couple people interested that want to go for a ride when the motor is back in. The motor was just rebuilt and I need to get with Jeff Blosdale about a good time to put it back in the boat (it is sitting at his shop at the moment).
I had a couple of lifters stick the last time we had it out...The motor has been completely rebuilt and is sporting a pair of Brand new Brodix heads..whom ever buys the boat will be getting a great deal...let me know if you want to look at it. The boat is here in North San Diego county in my garage, and I am thinking probably two weeks until the motor goes back in. If you are serious we could meet at Havasu after the motor is put in, and go for a ride. You can call me at 760-630-8035.
