My little one and I like to listen to country music here and there. Around x-mas a song came out about a boy who wanted to buy a pair of shoes for his mom so that she looked beautiful when she meets Jesus........does anyone know who sings this song or what the title is....
Thanks

Yeah, we love it too, were trying to find it on kazaa so that we can download it....It is such a sad song. I just finished crying my eyes out over the song "dear Mr. Jesus" released around x-mas time back in the 80's about a girl who is dying from physical abuse, and the girl that sings it says she is hit too.......everytime I hear that song I bawl

Dear Mr. Jesus, I just had to write to you
Something really scared me, when I saw it on the news
A story 'bout a little girl beaten black and blue
Jesus, thought I'd take this right to you
Dear Mr. Jesus, I don't understand
Why they took her mom and dad away
I know that they don't mean to hit with wild and angry hands
Tell them just how big they are I pray
Please don't let them hurt your children
We need love and shelter from the storm
Please don't let them hurt your children
Won't you keep us safe and warm
Dear Mr. Jesus, they say that she may die
Oh I hope the doctors stop the pain
I know that you could save her and take her up to the sky
So she would never have to hurt again
Please don't let them hurt your children...
Dear Mr. Jesus, please tell me what to do
And please don't tell my daddy
But my mommy hits me, too.
Please don't let them hurt your children...

It was almost christmas time
there i stood in another line
trying to buy that last gift or two
im really in the christmas mood
standing right in front of me
was a little boy waiting anxiously
pacing around like little boys do
and in his hands he held
a pair of shoes
and his clothes were worn and old
he was dirty from head to toe
and when it came his time to pay
i couldn't believe what i heard him say
Sir i wanna buy these shoes for my momma please
its christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
could u hurry sir?
daddy says there's not much time
you see she's been sick for quite a while
and i know these shoes will make her smile
and i want her to look beautiful
if momma meets jesus tonight
they counted pennies for what seemed like years
and the cashier says son there's not enough here
he searched his pockets franticly
then he turned and he looked at me
and he said momma made christmas good at our house
most years she just did without
tell me sir
what am i gonna do?
some how i gotta buy her these christmas shoes
so i laid the money down
i just had to help him out
and i'll never forget
the look on his face
when he said momma's gonna look so great
sir i wanna buy these shoes for my momma please
it's christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
could u hurry sir?
daddy says there's not much time
you see she's been sick for quite a while
and i know these shoes will make her smile
and i want her to look beautiful
if momma meets jesus tonight
i knew i caught a glimpse of heaven's love as he thanked me and ran out
i knew that god had sent that little boy to remind me
what christmas is all about
sir i wanna buy these shoes for my momma please
it's christmas eve and these shoes are just her size
could u hurry sir?
daddy says there's not much time
you see she's been sick for quite a while
and i know these shoes will make her smile

YEAH, you'd have to be pretty hard hearted to not get teary eyed during those songs. moreso when you hear them and a bit when you read them.

There is also that tear-jerker by John Michael Montgomery called "The Little Girl." Oh, man! Everytime I hear it I just bawl!
When the little girl goes to church for the first time with her "new" mommy and says she doesn't know who the man on the cross is, but that he came and held her the night her dad shot her mom and killed himself. Even my mother, who is an athiest, cried when she heard it.

I never used to enjoy country music, either.
One day I was fired from my job. I went home to find my wife gone and my dog dead under a camaro I had up on blocks. Of course, I went out, got drunk, and wrecked my pickup. When I came to, in the hospital, my wife and best friend were there to tell me they were eloping and that they hoped I didn't make it.
