I know others have asked this question, but who has added mufflers to there boat and been happy (complacent) with them. I have a 21Â’ day cruiser with thru transom exhaust under the swim steps right at the water line. Has anyone used the inserts? What about Cyclone exhaust from Hardin Marine or the new tips from Gibson?

I've used the drew marine Shotgun III for years on my blower motor and love them. Here's their site,

Check with us for pricing. They are expensive, but worth it.

i use some in line steel jobbies that clamp in the rubber flex hose. i like them, no performance loss and they dont muffle too much, just more of an added rumble. i was told outside from the beach they sound the same.

Hey berk,
What diameter hose are they in and who makes the mufflers?
Are they the 2&7/8"??
Thanks

Did anyone read the article in the newest HB mag?
Cyclone and the fellas tested a variety of the available mufflers and the verdict is in for O.T.'s...no go. Nothing on the market can make them compliant with the new CA standards.
Things aren't much better for T.T.'s either.
Great news, huh?

No I havenÂ’t received the new issue, thatÂ’s why I posted the question to see if anyone has done the research yet. Was not able to get much information at the LA Boat show either.

I am looking for something to put into the rubber exhaust hoses of my day cruiser just to take the edge off of the noise for the people sitting in the back.
Since my 70s 460 is stock with 400 hours, I don't expect a lot of performance loss.

The Rex Inline Silencers (http://www.rexmar.com/page237.html) work pretty well on stock type motors with minimal power loss. 3", 3.5", and 4" are available. We don't recommend these for anything that's built much beyond stock because you will see some power loss as the HP rating goes up. They generally knock off 8-10 dBA which on stock motors should get you well under the CA limit in most cases.
