Looking into purchasing a 99 Tiburon for my daughter from a co-worker. Its got 110K miles on it, new tires, new clutch and is in excellent condition.
I want her in a truck but thats not in the cards right now and this is 2,000.00 for something to just get her back and forth to work in etc. I dont want to put her in a death-trap or get something that will last a month or so but I think Hyundai's are pretty die-hard.....
what do you think?

The Tib is a pretty good Hyundai. Can you get ahold of the service records? They have some small problems with interior stuff,ie... window regulators, door handles, misc stuff like that. If the seller took good care of it and serviced it, its probably a good little sporty looking car. Notice I said looking not the fastest thing around but some times thats a good thing with the younger gen.

I'd suppose National Highway Traffic Safety Assos. would have some sort of safety rating for the model.

Don't they all. Stuff that breaks, radios, window regulators, cup holders, sun visors, door locks. Anything made out of plastic.

No doubt, when they were under warranty we had 6-8 radios on hand to exchange. This one probably has a aftermarket radio by now.

Im sure I could...they took excellent care of it. Just curious how the drivelines/engines hold up? For that price I dont think I can go too wrong....

Drive trains pretty good, maybe some CV axles if they haven't been changed all ready. Timing belt should be changed around every 60K. Its coming up on its second tbelt if it hasn't been changed all ready.

If you ever need CV boots or drives axles Traci look me up. I can get complete rebuilt axles for $55.00. It's not even worth replacing the boots for that price. You can just stuff in a new axle.
