The site was going to be shut down awhile ago by the owners for inappropriate content, so all members were asked to comply with nudity guidelines. Basically, if there aren't girls squeezing their boobs in the magazine, then it's not appropriate here.

Once again, since this isn't your site, it's not your call on the nudity. If someone takes it down (or tells you to), just go with it- whining about it to other members won't change it.

In fact, for many years, this site was operated at a loss. A couple years ago, they began selling those banners to help pay for the bandwidth and software upkeep, but it's probably still not making money.

Freedom of speech really only applies to publications to the extent the owner of that publication lets it (hence the purpose of editors publishing their slant or spin or edited content). Freedom of the press is the freedom of a publication to publish what "they" want to publish, which may or may not coinside with what readers what to read or hear. Of course anyone is free to publish their own publication if they so desire which is also freedom of the press.
