Who's got the hook ups on wiring. BoatFloating was on my rig this weekend and he was telling me what I need to do to get my tunes right. I don't know much about this stuff. He said I need to get some 4 ga. power and ground wire. I would also like to put some better speaker wire on. Any reccomendations?
Thanks

Best deals I found were right here: Stereo wiring (http://knukonceptz.com/index.cfm)
Good product, and great customer service, including cheap shipping.

I'd buy it at a place like Orvac Electronics in Fullerton. Pretty cheap (less than any shop would sell it to me), and they sell it by the foot.

Riverbound - Where are you at now?
I found 4 Ga. power wire on Crutchfield for .79/foot. Is that a good deal? The ground is like 1.25/ft.

Like I said last night go with the 8 Ga. and go to the place HH suggested. He knows his stuff since he's a internet wire jockey......

I'm thinking about putting 4 - 6 x 9's under the hatch but I don't think my hatch would even lift up with all that weight. :D

As far as a recommended wire upgrade for the speakers, I would recommed wire from Kimber Kable. It is real smooth, accurate, and musical. There are a few choices, (can be kind of costly in the high-end side) but the base line of wire is still superior to a large majority of main stream (popular) mobile audio wires. Kimber Kable costs a bit more, but it is a night and day difference. I have been using it for years and have never met anyone who was not impressed with the difference

LOL, I had a feeling someone would respond like that. I thought the same thing when I first heard this wire also. From the time you first power up a freshly wired system until about 25 hrs. using the wire, it smooths out, you have to hear it to believe it. There are only about 5 to 10 mobile audio shops in the country that carry it. I've also wondered if I have been abducted, that would explain why I always get to say "I told you so".

You are high if you think 80% of consumers will hear the difference between good speakercable in a boat...
I used Kimber(home audio blue white or silver weave) in my last big stereo system(years ago)... about 90ft of it and it wasn't baseline stuff....

I bet it's kinda hard to hear the difference with all those voices constantly talking to you... :supp:

I don't believe I said 80 percent, It's a before and after thing. It helps to have good audio equipment also. Hold on, I think I'm being abducted again!!

You didn't... I use the number as a refrence to how many people I believe won't notice the difference. Of the 20% I believe will say notice the difference, I'd bet there's a percentage of that total who only say they hear the difference as justification for overspending or as to not look stupid in front of the installer or salesperson...
I believe in solution selling... Fill the need to both application and gear
