Any pan that has a large kick out to keep the oil away from the crankshaft once the motor is sitting at a steep angle in the boat should work.
An 8 to 14 quart pan is a good idea in theory but if all that extra oil is sitting above the windage tray once the motor is installed in the boat then the crank is going to pick it up and throw it all over the place, which is going to rob the motor of a few hp. So avoid a large capacity pan that simply adds capacity through extra depth. look for a large capacity pan that adds that extra capacity through the use of kick outs instead.
my 2 pennies in the bucket.
Stef's makes some really nice aluminum pans. :)
