Friends of JBR - Wanted you to know that while JBR, SoCal_Fun, and I were out riding today, JBR had to put his bike down to miss running into a careless rider. He went to emergency room at AVH where he was told that he broke his clavical. He will see the specialist doc tommorrow. I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hi all. I was watching when it happened. Rich was cut off by some dumb punk. Rich almost saved it a couple times and then went down hard. Rich rolled like a pro, but it didn't stop the damn collarbone from getting snapped. I thought he was gonna be okay by the quality roll, but then he went back down after standing up and slapping the guy on the back and saying it was alright (the kid was upset I heard).
Rich, take your meds and get well. Tell Steph if she needs any honey dos done, I'm right here around the corner.

Thankws again to everyone for the well wish's :D
just arrived home from the Doctor  broken in 4 places :burningm: so it is a good one.
He gave me two options, what do you think
1. Surgery, they drill and place a screw through my shoulder socket to the broken bone(s). This will keep the bones from moving ans less pain.
2. Let it heal, more pain. Maybe a bump on my shoulder when healed. bone can move
The dr. was 50-50 on it

Hey Rich,
I got a buddy that let his heal normal, has a bump and is sensitive (as in re-break, not funny looking) about it.
I also got a buddy they put long rods in his sholder and collarbone. Eventually the rods in his shoulder actually pushed themselves out, but the bones healed stronger than before (they'll still break from the helmet hit though).
I say get the erector set, chicks dig scars.

Hey Rich, sorry to hear it's bad, but don't worry.
About 10 years ago, a buddy and I went riding at hungry valley with a pair of brothers.
Well, these guys were in their 60's and we are in our 20's. They show up with two new DR350's, and we're thinking hope they can handle the woops. The first guy needs help unloading, cause he can't use his left hand-his arm was shriveled from MS or something, just kept it tucked in his chest protector.
The second guy tells us "these pills are nitro-if I take a big spill, tuck one under my tongue". :squiggle:
Forturnately they stopped and waited for us every few miles, because after about 10 min of riding, we would lose thier dust. :notam:
They knew the trails from 30 years of riding up there.
Never underestimate old and gimpy riders (that's me and you now!).
They can still be fast as hell! :D
Hope you feel better soon

I have both bad and good news :2purples:
I have a severe break, the bone broke at an angle, more of a splinter break in a few locations
90% of the time they just let them heal, I am am at the other 10%. They took new x-rays and wanted to see if it looked better than last Sunday. No significant changes  However, because of the swelling and not an emergency needed in the repair. The Dr. wanted to wait two more weeks, take new x-rays and see if the bones come together. If not he may need to do surgery where the install a plate along the toop of the shoulder and screw into the broken bones.
So we will cross our fingers, not bones

I may know a little about this since I just broke mine two years ago. If your having trouble sleeping, using soma for relaxation and you have to sleep sitting up. seems weird, but it works. a little whiskey never hurt either. They just let mine self heal with the figure-8 straps and everything. No scar, but I have a crooked collar bone and a bump. Your's sounds a little different, but i'm sure it all hurts the same. 93308 zip code oildale. :hammer2:
93306 Northeast ME! :D
From what i understand some citys can be covered by more than one zip code  Could it be that Oildale is covered by both the 08 and the 06 #'s

51 What's happening? Long time no hear from you. Hey is Locash Bako over by Dia in Oildale? :D :D :D You know that never gets old.
Busier than a one-legged man in a hoola-hoop contest. Just saw that JBR was a fellow cripple, and wanted to do what I could to help him out. Locash is from the movie CB4 with Chris Rock..."straight outta Locash..." Being from the 08, we represent because the 08 will never change, but apparently the 909 can :hammer2: :hammer2: :hammer2:

I feel for you, it's been almost three weeks for me since i went down hard on my bike. I was climbing hills onto a plateau, near dusk, when the plateau ran out and I went up and over off a 20+ drop. I whipped the bike and slammed it into the wall in a feeble attempt to scrub speed, but still landed on my head and shoulder pretty hard. I knocked myself out, fractured two vertebrae and tore all 4 rotator cuff ligaments. My collar bone is sticking straight up now. It looks like surgery, I will know more in a week.
When we get fixed up, let's go riding!

Now I feel better :2purples: sounds like you did a lot more damage than me :hammerhea Sounds like surgery will be in your future for sure  sorry to hear that.
I am hoping to avoid that, but will not know until the 18th. My shoulder feels a lot better as long as I don't move and sleeping  I did return back to work :hammerhea which is not easy.
When we do heel, looks like we should get together for sure  or stick to the golf cart like Dia sai :argue:

Hey Rich Great news,
I'm sure you told him you only need to move the arm "a little bit" :D
Whether it helps your sholder or not, it should relieve some 'pressure' around the house. :D

Pressure around the house  it just means I need to do more of the chores  my wife and kids have been awesome :D you should see what they have done without me. Just Last weekend, Steph and Missy wheel barreled 1 1/2 yard of concrete to the back yard to set a pad. Somtimes I feel they can get along fine without me
As far as healing fast :D Steph and I were real surprised when the Dr. put the x-rays up and said I am doing excellent without surgery :D maybe a lucky guess on his part, win-win for all of us :D
