The Northstar system performed very well at the HB test. They're around 1200.00-1400.00 a pair. What engine package do you have? Are you loking for a transom mount or clamp on?

You can get the north star clamp on mufflers at teague marine for $899.00. I know someone who has been talking alot with mercury racing. They say the north star is the one to go with,Because of the back pressure deal with blown motors (575sci).

Bang for the buck I'd go with the Gibsons. ;)

The Gibsons would work very well on the 500 EFI. $499.00 a pair. I've got plenty in stock.

You only have two options for a clamp on muffler that will not rob performance and get you legal, Gibson and Northstar. Every boat varies, so I suggest installing the mufflers and getting tested. Will the Gibson's work? There's no way I can provide a solid answer. I can tell you that there's not many other options. The Gibson's would be the best shot you have and the least expensive. At $499.00 it's hard to justify using any other brand.

yea that is what i figured at 499 cant go wrong.im not really to worried if im a little over the db limit i dont think i will be hassled about that. i only boat at parker and have my own launch ramp so it will be for more of a visual effect for the popo on the strip as not to have a reason to pull me over.thanks for the answer i will say hi when i stop in.

Come by anytime, We're usually here at all times. For all HB forum members and/or viewers, we'll be in our new building within 30 days, so anyone who wants to come down to get the nickle tour give me a call. We've thought of having an open house, I'll keep everyone informed.

We have a new 24,000 sq ft building off of railroad. We're across from WPM, down the street from Quality Performance. You can't miss the building, there's a nice bright blue stripe around the top with all new tropical landscaping. It's roughly three blocks from our current location.

quick, possibly stupid question...I have thru transom, below water exhaust on a 454 jet, seems to be fairly quiet while idling but hate to drive 300 miles for the first outing of the summer and be DENIED access to the river for being too loud. anyone have any feedback on this, or should i just get the damn mufflers?????

Good transom pic, if you do install the mufflers, you'll have a home free installation. I would suggest using the transom mount version. Technically speaking even if you get off the dock you still need to pass the shoreline test. One way or another straight exhaust is just too loud and you'll have trouble at some point and time. You might squeak by, you might not.

ok my dillema is this. big ci.blown. thru transom at the water line. when i back up now it makes the engine loadup so hows it going to run with mufflers submerged at idle???

Unfortunately that's a question that can't be answered without trying it. If the Gibson's create more of a problem, there aren't many other options. The Gibson mufflers use a straight through design, so I would think it wouldn't have a very big impact.

Who has the North-star E-Series mufflers? The test says 82.8 db. Man that is over twice as quite as the Gibsons. They are more money, but I am very interested. Hey Dana Marine, how about a group purchase on the Gibsons? Are you going to carry the North-stars in the near future?

The North Stars are also distributed by Livorsi Marine, and yes we can get them. There's alot of mufflers out there, and everyone will have their own personal preference. If they work properly, that's what matters. I've had experience with most of the mufflers, and not many can meet with the necessary requirements. For the ones that do.....Getty up!!
