at a time when public education is recieving more attention than ever before my stupid ass district is going broke  . they are blaming it on lower enrollement and the enocomicial makeup in pasadena has changed(poor people with lots of kids have moved out), but they have know this for three years now thats why i moved. nothing new!!!!! so why would they open more schools when they are experiencing lower enrollement? now they are threating to lay off a shiat load of people and fukc up people's lives. at the same time they threaten layoffs the dam superintendent gives himself a $25,000 raise..... is there any other members here that work for a school district and are experiencing theses types of problems? and if so what is your job doing to avoid layoffs? :squiggle:

Same crap going on around here.
I hate the bureaucracy.
: a system of administration marked by officialism, red tape, and proliferation.

I dont work for the school district but we've been experiencing lay offs off and on the last three years. Still flying under the radar..................
Good luck to you....its a stressful time during layoffs. Try to stay positive.

Yep I gave up a high paying airline maintenance job due to lay offs and pay cuts.
Decided to go self employed. Glad I did.

It has to be Prop 13...
Forget the fact that a Tough Shed in Pasadena costs $750K, and the government gets 1.25% of that MINIMUM EVERY YEAR!
This state is in serious trouble... yes... I'll say it...
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!!!!!

I have a lot of teachers as clients and some of them were concerned with lay-offs the last couple of years. However, none of my clients were laid-off because the districts gave golden handshakes to teachers that retired in that given year. The Teachers that took the incentive to retire received a lump payment of $30,000+ others received a higher monthly payout at retirement. One of the districts needed over 70 teachers to retire to make the program work. I guess the thought is that a seasoned teacher that is making $60,000 to $70,000 per year could be replaced by a newly hired teacher making $40,000 a year. Due to a good response I don't think that there were any lay-offs.

most districts need to cut the red tape (higher management) before they look at the ones that make the schools work i.e teachers, custodians, cafe workers, office workers, etc what i dont understand is how can a city effectily market its public education to home buyers and be going through a freaking money problem o well i guess i have to learn that its not me..... its upper management that screw us all thank you arnold and bush :yuk: :2purples:

Willie that sucks. I know what you mean about money being spent. My outfit has nine contracts right now for new schools. If they lay everyone off who will run them
If you do open a restaurant, can I run the bar :)
