After turning the 4th decade last month, my newest health insurance bill arrived. It was $621 a quarter and now its $1023!! This covers both my wife and me, but is considered "Catastrophic Care" and has a $2500 deductible.....Works out to be $341 a month for the two of us. No dental, no vision, reduced cost of medicine. $25 copay I think....
My two kids (9 and 11) are $744 a quarter for a normal PPO type deal. Both are Blue Cross.
That sucks. Or does it? What is everyone paying out there? ARe these numbers in line? You government workers....well, nevermind.

I pay $47 per month for Blue Cross HMO. And no, I don't work for the government, well, at least not directly.

The company picks up mine... 100%, but I'm single with no kids. On the little ditty statemant I get at the end of the year, I think they pay 200.00 a month or so for my insurance, United Health Care PPO.
Dental and Vision are seperate and I pay a portion of those, also they both suck... but are better than nothing.

Not rubbing it in my Friend, my entire family costs me $44.00 a month, includes medical, dental and vision. I work for a great company that takes great care of it's employees...

I am one of the lucky ones as well  managers get free health care benefits  at our company. We still have co-pays, etc. It is only $15 per visit. My recent visit's to the Dr., each time I was told we had excellent coverage

I was using Blue Shield PPO when I was a contractor. It was $650 a month for my family of 5, with a $20 copay. They were the cheapest since they are a non-profit company.

I suppose I could reply with saying that my company pays 100% of it.
But I write those checks too..... :squiggle: :notam:
When you guys wonder why it costs so much to have a contractor work on your house, blame the insurance companies....and the lawyers, too. I guess.
Add in what I have to pay to workers' comp, Liability, EDD, vehicles, office, health, etc, it gets ugly.....

Mandelon, That still isn't too bad. My wife and I pay about $750.00 a month for Kaiser for just the 2 of us. We have a $25.00 co-pay each visit, no dental but it does include prescriptions for $10.00 each. If you think hospitalization is expensive try getting hurt or sick without it. :(

I feel for ya brother, it is so expensive to run a Business in Cali, the cost of healthcare is just one reason that my brother decided to take his Contractor business to Colorado...

This is whats happening to almost everybody. I'm retired fron Operating Engineers Local 12. They just forced us to go from a group plan that cost $396@ month with no deductible and that included eyes and dental too, now I have to pay $ 526 a month, $300 deductible for each of us before they pay anything and our prescription costs TRIPLED. I figure this change costs me and the wife $2500 more a year and thats if we stay healthy, hard when you are on a fixed income, beleve it!!! NSF :2purples:

Just got my new premium and coverage information. Cost keeps going up and coverage keeps going down. This is Blue Cross Blue Shield and I am on a family plan with 3 children covered. It is a Prefered Provider Plan. No dental and no vision.
Pemium is $721.20 per month. My employer pays $202.50. I pay $518.70.
$3,000.00 deductible with a maximum out of pocket $6,000.00
$150.00 deductible on prescriptions, then $10.00 co-pay after that.
$20.00 co-pay on office visits.
Everyone in our company is very upset with this situation. Our deductible and max out opf pocket doubled and the cost is still a little higher than last year.

My wife and I are covered thru her work which is walmart and she is paying 125.00 a month for health net and dental. I have my kids covered through healthy families for med and dental for 27.00 a month. here is a link for that http://www.healthyfamilies.ca.gov/hf/hfhome.jsp. My work has terrible insurance so I cancelled it once my wife got hers.

Dude...I was keeping her warm. She was fine. REALLY! :) Drive it like you stole it, I say!!! I was a little disappointed that no one wanted to drive back. I rarley drive my own boat. I like being busy with OTHER things and enjoying the ride. That was a nice ride over. It was pretty choppy coming back. She was really warm coming back. She had to stop and pee 4 times. :jawdrop: She was pretty hammered. She has a big bruise on her leg. How'd that happen?
Ok, I admit it.....I'm a slut. :)

Where you live also determines how much u pay. Recently I moved from Murrieta to Huntington Beach and they now want $60 more a month just for moving to a different "Zone". Good thing I changed my mind and stayed in Murrieta ;)
