O.K. boys and girls let's do it again. Saturday April 2nd. Launch out of Orwood, I don't know where we are going yet. Depending on group size we will decide where we go as the date cums closer.

I can't do the 2nd, but how about a short run on Saturday March 26. I know that it is the day before Easter, but the tower has given clearance and might even go , could be fun anyway.

As Treasurer of the under 70 club (go where the money's at) I am in at this time. Just shot an email off to my wife to make sure there isn't anything penciled in on the calendar. Hopefully we can get a babysitter so she can come along also. I washed, waxed and filled the gas tank on Sunday so she is ready to go at a moments notice.

My wife just confirmed a babysitter yesterday, so we are going to be on the water on 4/2 regardless of whether anyone else is going out or not. Can't wait. Pulled it out of the garage yesterday and ran it on the trailer for a little bit so I could hear it run for a while. Needed a little fix.

If Petas is the place in the Stockton harbor then I have been there once with my Dad. Question is whether you can still get there by water since they seem to have fenced all the docks in. If I recall correctly the waitress (owners wife) was hammered that afternoon when we stopped for dinner. She kept trying to give us old superbowl party t-shirts they had from the previous year. It was hilarious (the food was good also).

Accuweather reads clear with a high of 63 degs.
I spoke to Peta's restraunt and she said the city of Stockton has closed and locked all access to the water front for security reasons.
Riverboat is open as of St. Patty's day.
So,
Breakfast at Orwood 8:30
Leave Orwood 10:00
Sugar Barge drinks
Riverboat lunch
Tower Park or Garlic Bros. for a night cap.

I spoke to Peta's restraunt and she said the city of Stockton has closed and locked all access to the water front for security reasons.

Agree DCBob. A couple of boats always bail after lunch, so what ever happens after lunch I don't care. That's when the shit starts gettin' fun. I like Union Point for a last stop also, plenty of dock space and a bitchin' drive there.

Narrow + twisty can be a good thing. :supp: Think of it as god’s way of thinning the herd of those who can’t handle mudslides and drive their boat. I say we add another degree of difficulty and take the slough from Tower Park to Guisties at sunset, now that’s some real twisty fun.

Been there done that, O.C. and I. The fishermen in the sam-pan boats were freaked out by us blowing by at 90 mph. My vote is from Union Point to Old River at dark after our Union Point "refreshment" pit stop...any takers? :skull:

Unfortunatly the speed runs did not happen. The morning was calm with no breeze to speak of and the afternoon the only wind we had was going the wrong way. The slew infront of chris's island was calm. We mad one attempt with 4 of us abord but it started to hope due to smooth conditions. I just caled it a day. I did have ot run to Tower park with Chris to drop off some keys. That was a good ride. We left the sugar bardge then ran to Chris's to get keys and then ran past all of you to get to Tower park. It took just about 20min of actual boat time to accomplish this. Never dropped below 70.
I can give you one number that I know it ran. with 3 aboard and just filled up at b@w (60-65 gallons) we ran 120mph on the dot at 5200rpms, we had found a small stretch of 4 inch chop, and then turned around and ran up to 5600 rpm's. That would put us at about 129 range. the gps was about 1/2 inch past the 120 line. Not bad for loaded and just running a short run, from 50 to 120+ in just about 5-6 secs but then had to let off due to turns and uncertain water. I will try again soon but I want to keep it close to home in case somthing goes wrong. I have plenty of time to wait for the water cnditions to be in my favor.
Thanks for posting the pictures. We had a great time. What a great crew on hand.
I ran across the side of Franks tract with 4 abord and went airborn a few times, all were planned . Keith was cruising behind us.

Hey!
Don's boat runs like it is on rails, anywhere you point it under about 90MPH, it goes!!!
Had a great day on the water.
Menkin locked her keys in the car and we had to drop off the spare set at Tower Park.
From the Island to Tower Park....about 12 minutes, I kept looking at my watch to see if it had stopped along the way.
Each way driving is 45 minutes, which would have killed the rest of my day.
The Island is usually open, do not hesitate to stop by, if the "Mystery Whaler" is at the dock, we are home.
If any one gets blown out by weather this summer, the dock is always open.
See Ya!

TT this was a great time and I wasnt too concerned about the speeds, if the water was good I would try but hey, maybe next time. The trip from the bardge to tower park was a freaking blast. Nailing turns and jumping rollers is a blast. the funest turn is behind chris's island. You should try it at about 50-60, what a rush.
Eliminate this, I see it is hard when the kids are out with you too hang out and drink a few. You got to keep everyone (wife) happy. I would have to do the same. Oh yeah 4-6 inch is ideal for me. It is the rouge waves I have to be concerned about. The water was good enough to run hard for everyone out there yesterday. I say you make a blast accross Franks tract. :D
oh yeah, TT dont compair me to rockit-man. I have run my boat and it does what it does. If it runs a big number I will be happy, if it doesnt I will still be happy and I will still be boating with all of you. :D :D

River Boat II pretty muched screwed the pooch on this trip. We put in more time on the boat and less time indoors last time. There is still a big push to get up to Freeport for steak sandwiches. That will be a nice trip. One good thing about stopping frequently is us 70 and unders get to see the fast guys more often. The Freeport run will be two groups, racers and rescuers

Like Cat Skinner said the Riverboat II lunch was a little drawn out. Most of our runs are alot more driving (thats what I like).
We ran up to Tower Park after lunch for Mudslides. After lunch we usually make a "night cap" run with smaller group of boats (5-6 boats).

My wife and I had to head home. We had a babysitter watching our two kids. By the time we got home she had been watching them for eight hours. That is a pretty long time for a 13 year old to be in charge or a 2 1/2 and a 1 year old.
I enjoyed Riverboat II because apparently they are also a Baja dealer. Went over after I ate and looked at the new 23 Outlaw. Can't believe my wife suggested that we walk over and look, but she did have a couple of cocktails and was up to the risk of me seeing a new boat. :)

Agreed on the Sunday-run call. It's tough to get everything buttoned up and gear up for work Monday morn. Saturdays are the better option IMO.
I'm checkin the O'Brien calendar of events for May and will post up a lunch run once I know what's going on for us unless someone else beats me to it.
I think all you fockers need to get your butts ready for that Freeport run for Steak sando's.....then I'll be able to launch in Lodi instead of rollin all the way down to Orwood and catch up with the Disco Bay crew en-route.....just an "all about me" thought. :D

Pointerman I have to agree with D21. This was not a typical day due to the service we got at both stops. I think it was frustrating for all involved. However, A few laugh’s and a chance to get together with some good folks is never a bad thing in my book. Some tend to peel off and go home after lunch but if you hang in there, we always have that select few that run the sloughs till the sun sets. Plan on a longer day next time and get some real driving time in. The late afternoon/evenings are always the best runs!
