3 different stations within a square mile for diesel: $2.339, $2.299, and $2.199. The wifey was smart and drove around and then jumped on the $2.199 for her truck. I think I'm going to go top mine off today before it gets reallllllly ugly!!!

If my math is correct that is about $3.00 a gallon. Canadian...
1 liter = 33.8oz.
1 gallon = 128oz
Just over 4 liters to a gallon, right???

You may be paying more for diesel now, but I imagone that 87-91 will be more expensive in the next few months...

I was in Seattle over the weekend for work and it was $2.79 / gal there. It will go up more in 2007 as the feds have new emissions standards in the works for diesels and lowering the sulpher content in the fuel is part of it. We all know what a reformulation of fuel does to price. The people that do our independent testing of the filters are working on a project with the big 3 to produce a cleaner diesel engine. It does a 100% reburn of the exhaust. Not sure of how it all works but it is interesting stuff. I am going to go out on a limb here but I think the future of diesels will be in hybrids. Diesel generators that power electric motors like a locomotive.

Not sure how good it is, but it seems to be proven, but it shows to come out @ less than 0.40 per gallon for Diesel. GreaseCar.com. Even the cross country bus driven by Willie Nelson uses recycled vegetable oil for his diesel pusher.

here in Riverside, diesel is as high as $2.57. I just topped off last night for $2.35 in Moreno Valley. These prices are getting outrageous. I filled up in Parker this weekend for $2.14 at Super Fuels and then in Laughlin for $2.39. It seems like it is expensive everywhere.

European diesel has been lower sulfer(either spelling is recognized ;):D ) grade for some time....

There are roughly 4.5 liters per Imperial gallon but US gallons are 20% smaller so it's not as expensive as it sounds. Also, our cars get more miles per gallon because the gallons are larger.
... so don't forget to carry the gallon conversion through with the price.

To look at it in gal-Liter
1 US gal= 3.78 Liters @.80 a liter = 3.024
1 IMP gal= 4.55 Liters @ .80 a liter= 3.64
Now if its .80 US the price is over $3.00 a gal
If it was .80 CDN then 1 US gal is approx 2.49
and 1 IMP gal is $3.01
(To much time on my hands)

GM's hybrid truck shuts the motor down when you stop and runs the truck's electrical system from a battery until you step on the accelerator again, then the motor fires up seemlessly. Not really a hybrid in the true sense of the word, but it's supposedly good for 2-4 mpg, depending on your driving habits.
so how do you warm the thing up?

Similar to Toyota and others... The electric motors run during initial acceleration then converts to gas motor once under way. The computer will toggle between motors depending on driver's demend... I think the Highlander hybrid will be available sometime this year...
