Just wondering how much faster a boat will run.

I don't know the answer but.. I would say it depends on what you are running and how it is in the chop.

I gotta admit...those DCBs idle with the best of 'em.
However, get 'em past the breakwater...and they would probably start breaking out in hives, or something...

If your boat didn't ride so bad in the harbor, maybe you would want to go out where the water was bigger than 1'? :supp:

sorry.. I am known for high jacking threads.. I think it depends on what kind of boat you are running in. can it handle the ocean or is it made for fresh water. such as what havasu Hangin has. :D

Salt water is more buoyant (like Mrs. V  )..
...so it's good for a mile or two, depending on the boat.

What if your rig only does 60 mph?
The colder the air and water is, the better your shit will run.

It's also more dense and tends to be rather sticky on a flat day. Lots of variables. Does the boat in question have thru transom exhaust?

Define deep, ocean? Havasu? Other Lakes?
1) Who cares about the ocean. If I want to go into the ocean, I break out the other boat.
2) As for Havasu, don't be hatin because I can blow you away on your home turf,
3) Other lakes, refer to #2

Sorry to reply to the topic at hand and get you back on track...
But salt water also make you cavitate easier. You can get some serious prop spin off the bottom, or while you are riding in someone's wash.
But I have noticed slightly higher top end speeds. Unfortunately all of my real world experience comes mostly from eight years of jet ski racing (long ago). We did alot of testing with radar and a laptop in Mission Bay vs. Havasu. It took a completely different prop/fuel setup.

With my old power the boat ran 113 out front of santa monica pier at its best. In havi the fastest it would run was 103. I would say that salt is faster. More bouancy and denser water makes for a free boat and extra speed.

That 10-17 sounds realistic......
Salt vs fresh, all sorts of things will effect speed on a given day....but my best salt speed vs fresh speed is about 2 mph higher in the salt
Only know of 2 Raylar kits so far that are actually on the water, but both boats run real nice
Good luck to ya
