Hey guys & gals ...
I need some help,I just pulled the jet off of the back of my boat and have discovered that the impeller & wear ring are much too loose, the main bearing is junk and some of the o-rings are missing http://free.***boat.net/ubb/frown.gif. So here are my questions:
1. where is the best place to buy a complete rebuild kit including impeller (berk A aluminum) I am trying to find the best price as freight and duty are killers $$$
2.the jet is a berkley 12jf the engine althought not dyno'ed yet will make an honest 425 hp. should I change the cut of the new impeller or stay with the A? the boat is a carlson cvx20
3.I have the "jet repair book" but is this something I should let an expert do or can this be done at home?? my goal is to do 70 mph when this is done
any and all info will be a big help as my boat will be back from the paint shop in a week or so and I want to have everything lined up to start putting it back together http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

Try MPD or Tom Papp racing they both have kits

As far as where to get the rebuild kit...ya could go to any of the big name fellas. Ted from CBM JET, great fella, I'v worked with him...Duane from Hi -Tech Performance another good fella that did me good, Jack from MPD, good man. Greg Shoemaker from GS Marine... I've worked with them all. All there prices are fair and ya could do some haggleing if needed. Also ya could go right to Aggressor, I've worked with Jhon before and use there Imp. Or ya could very well go with Legend and or American Turbine, I'm sure any of the above (WILL) set ya on the right road...As far as doing the job your self... for the mph your looking for or even a little more, HELL YES...Do it!!! Good luck, and dont worry, the big guys will help as well as some of the jetters here....(think before you buy). Almost forgot, I also have worked with Tom Papp, another fine fella. Yep, seems to be some good boaters out there...just like some Harley guys!

Guig, call Dave at california marine [ 604-278 1880 ,tuesday through saturday] and try to haggle with him too http://free.***boat.net/ubb/wink.gif.The canadian $ is sh...t ,so the kit may be cheaper here than in the states.

You may want to try Dons Pump Service in Columbus Ohio(614) 488-1335. He does a lot of drag boats and has been in the business a long time. He can tell you what you need and he will cut your impeller to size and make a wear ring for it. Made a couple for me before I went to V-drives.

I think I found CP performance to have the most reasonable prices on berkeley stuff.

Coast Guard Steve posted on the Banderlog board about the service and parts he got from Hi-Tech and he seemed to be very happy with the service and help he got from Duane.
All except for the fact that the donuts were stale by the time he got them!

Quig,
I can certainly attest to Duane being a stand up guy. I never expected that I would receive the service that I have. I have only had my boat out once since my rebuild, but I can assure you that Duane was on the mark with his info. The only advice I have for you is to talk to people who have used the services from different people and see who fits your needs the best. I am and claim to be no expert......just a satisfied customer!
