Your new interior looks awesome. How do you like the back seat confifuration compared to the old bench seat? Is the part right in front of the engine with the drink holders on it removable?

My boat has the same confiration and I know one of the reasons he liked it was because you could remove the center section and easily get to the engine. I'm sure his is the same way now.
I'm sure he just missed your post and since he's been out of town all weekend, he should be around here again soon.

It's on, I just don't visit this section to often. Sorry. I love the new configuration. I've always wanted a boat with that setup. When I first got the boat and it had the bench, I liked it too, but when 2 people sit back there, they had to sit in a angle and have both of there feet in the same small space in the middle of the hull. If they sit facing forward, because of the hull, there knees would be pointing up in the air. Also, as RTJs has said, when I want to get to the motor, it's not 4 bolts, and removing the whole back seat now, the pulley cover just pushes in place (snug, very snug) I also covered the braided hose infront of the motor with clear hose where the pulley cover may rub against, therefore saving the cover from getting torn apart. Let me know it you have any questions. The seating style now is much better in my opinion.

WOW, HB - VERY nice - CONGRATULATIONS - looks AWESOME! I think I'm going to do something similar in mine, 2 buckets with facing 2 seat benches behind them (looking to seat 6 total) - hey, if you wouldn't mind, after you've had some passengers and time with the layout, drop me a line with any suggestions for changes or improvement (or just to RAVE how well it works!!! lol)would you mind doing that favor for me? THANKS SO MUCH - I'd really appreciate it! http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif

That looks awesome. Does anyone know of a decent setup for a spectra 20 footer? I have 2 forward, 2 rear facing and 1 jumpseat on either side of the engine. Would like to switch to a bench across the back or side benches but it just seems I would lose alot of walk area. Does anyone have any pics or ideas? Thanks

Hey Spectra...don't know if this helps, but we did that exact conversion on my buddy's 20' Omega.
Actually, after it was done, we felt that he gained more than he lost.
He still could seat the same amount of people, just 4 across the bench now, instead of the jump seats.
He gained a large sunpad, where the engine cover was before.
He gained stowage on either side of the engine, under the hatch- great for anchors, tools, etc. Not much room before on a 20' open bow for that stuff.
If you think about it, the only walking room loss will be the sides of the hatch, which turns into the stowage. Still, more than enough room to move around, and looked alot cleaner...

PS- make sure you secure the new hatch well...don't want any 18 wheelers running over it on the 15 Frwy...but that's another story... http://www.planetsmilies.com/smilies/happy/happy06.gif

I don't know if you have enough room in the 20' Spectra, but I always thought a cool set up was similar to yours except take out the two facing seats behind the front buckets and put a short bench in front of the motor. This way you have to two jump seats on each side of the motor towards the back, you have a short bench with room for two (snug) in front of the motor and room for the two up front. Plus, you still have plenty of walk room and don't have to crawl over a motor hatch to get in and out of the boat (boat with a bench all the way across the back). In addition, you open up the side of the boat for storage (where the current facing seats are behind the front buckets). You could have side panels built with access to the side of the boat to store miscellaneous boating items. You also have storage under the short bench and rear jump seats. In the 80's we had a Nordic 26' Daycruiser with the type of interior I am describing and it worked real well.
