I commute 80 miles each way each day,, Not too bad when you consider the average speed is around 75 mph. I probably spend less windshield time than alot of you Cali ppl who only commute 20 miles each way.

Did you land something else Rich?
I was working 450 Miles away in LA from here in Folsom last year. I maneuvered myself to South San Francisco (130 miles away from home) and finally now I am working in Sacramento 25 miles to the office. I won't do it again... next time I sell the house and buy a double wide in Oklahoma and find a job at the Local Wal Mart... :hammerhea

Fractional ownership is the way to go, Net Jet will help you out, 250k will get you 50 to 100 hrs of time a year, anytime you wanna go they'll be there if not contact Clay Lacy Jets out at VNY (Van Nuys) they'll take care of ya!!! :p , mention you heard about them on Hot Boat and they'll send the Limo :)

True , but you have to fly it and after a hot and heavy day of flying down the lake or river, it'd be nice to have someone else do the driving.
BTW those Cirrus look nice, are they entry level pilot ready or should you have a few hour under your belt first?

Try a commute of 3,000 miles!
For 4 years I kept my architectural practice in NYC (Manhattan) and commuted to San Francisco on the weekends.
I knew every flight attendant on that route. :D
I have close to 1,000,000 frequent flyer miles in my account.

If I could fly my commute, I would,, but with the distance from Tuba City (where I work) to Page, it's actually fast for me to drive it once you figure taxi time, run-up, and preflight... When I was in Kayenta working (48 miles as the crow flies, 105 miles on the highyway) I would fly it 2-3 times a week. Great flight,, leave Page, fly north over Powell to Rainbow Bridge, and hang a right,,,,

My office is about 40 miles from home. However, since it is in downtown San Francisco, the only way to get there in a reasonable time is to take BART. It still take me almost 1.5 hours to get here each day. That, and the damn BART tickets cost me $9.70 per day.
But then, if you figure out driving instead,... you have a longer commute due to traffic. $3.00 to cross the Bay Bridge, and then $20 to park all day. It's still a better deal to ride the train and sit with the freaky people, then to drive in.
Still sucks though..... :yuk:

Alot of my work is way back in th ebush, as far as 150 miles one way at times, and this is on beat to shit looginmg roads, spring time is the best cause it can take 3 hours one way in 6 " of mud, Luckily I have th eoption of staying on the lease at times.. it sure beats the shit out of trucks in this industry. Spend 50 grand on a truck that isnt worth 30 within a year.

My neighbor commutes to AZ from Temecula, he flies Southwest out of Ontario.
I used to teach a week long training course and had to fly anywhere in the U.S. and they would only tell me where the next gig was on Sunday. The pay was good, 4K a week + expenses, but I got tired of waking up and wondering where I was. I saw alot of Hotels and Airports, but not much else.
