My old dog, rest her doggy soul, got it right in the face a few years ago. Sorry to say but even after several washings she still reaked.:yuk: Had to take her to the groomers and then it was better but still slightly there. Took some time but the smell finally did go away. Not much help, Sorry! :(

Skunk Smell Remover 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
1/4 cup Baking Soda
2 tbsp Dish Detergent. The stuff for washing dishes in the sink, not something for dishwashers.
Mix the ingredients in a large bowl, because it will boil up like Vesuvius. We are, after all, making an oxygen generator. Wash the dog with this while it is still foaming, because it is the oxygen which reacts with the thiols in the skunk stink to neutralize the odor. If it sits around, it will loose it's efficacy because the oxygen boils off. Don't try to store it in an airtight container, because it will blow up. The brew also works for clothes, humans and unlucky cats.

Wow! I wish I would have known that. I use to take my Weimer to the car wash and hose his ass down. Then make him sleep in the back of the truck over night...:)

Skunked!
The Myth: Can anything get rid of skunk stink?
The Experts: Jeff Anderson from Critter Control and Regan Kuja from Animal Abatement Specialists supply skunks for the experiment, and Scottie Chapman volunteers to see if Adam and Jamie smell better after testing the products.
Quotable Moments:
Scottie: (to Adam) You smell like a Bloody Mary!
Jamie: (refering to the synthetic skunk scent) Odeur de skunk
The Results: The skunks did NOT want to spray! Finally, they harrassed one of the skunks enough that he sprayed Adam’s shoe a bit, and the guys got doused with cold tomato sauce. After letting Scottie do the sniff test, they decided that tomato sauce does work (PLAUSIBLE).
They couldnt get eh poor skunks to spray anymore, so they tried the synthetic stuff, only to find that the scent didn’t linger. They decided to test the rest of the products on the bathroom that the skunk was in. Beer didn’t work (BUSTED) and neither did douche (BUSTED). The mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda and liquid dish soap worked really well (PLAUSIBLE) and commercial skunk scent remover sort of worked, as well. (PLAUSIBLE)

That's the ticket!!! Double the dose that is recomnended and it will work!! Here's what I've done: 1 bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide. 1/2 box Baking Soda, Dash of shampoo. Do this solution 2-3 times and the dog will smell good, Until they get hot and wet :frown:
This works but I use Hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and Dawn. The prob is you can't use this on thier face. My dog just got hit a few weeks back right in the face, and I went online to do some research. They said the above is the best route, but not to use it on their face because it messes theirs eyes up and can blind them. Your going to think this sounds funny because I about fell out of my chair when I read option 2 for the face.
Option 2 (for the face)- Use womens douche.
I was like no way am I F'ing walking into the store to buy this shit. So I had a girlfriend do it for me. Buy a lot, and wash the dog multiple times. It will still smell, just not nearly as bad. It takes a long time and a few washes to get rid of the smell on the face. The skunks spray is oil based, so its a bitch to wash out. Good luck.

Shave the dog completely bald. Till there's absolutely no hair.

What kind of dog was it? I would suggest getting a Rott. So far his dog house has on the side stencils of 2 skunks, 1 possum, and 1 cat. Never had the skunk smell problem here.

I seem to remember the old sheepherders using mustard. Common kitchen shelve mustard. The sheep dip was horendous, and after a wash down with the mustard, rinsed off, it was gone. The skunk part concerned a dog, and mustard was used there as well. ..............MP
