ok im fixing up my 18' apollo i start replacing the fuel line when i realize that theres no fuel vent. i have a 21' tahiti project also and it has vents. should i put fuel vents in the apollo?

Yes, you will get much better flow to the motor with a vent in the tank!

Project speed,there must be a vent.Check your gas cap.Older boats had a vent hole incorporated in the cap.

I just looked at the gas cap. no holes just a spring loaded washer. i guss im going to have to drill through the boat to get a hole in the tank. thanks

PS ,before you start drilling,remove the screw and the disc[ spring loaded washer].You may find the hole under it.The hole could be quite small and vents under the cap or the edge of the cap ,depends what make it is.

i just took the screw out of the gas cap. theres no hole only two washers a big washer and a smaller one with a rubber piece in between the two and a spring on the very top.

Drill the washer !!! about .050 to .100

i was going to cnc the gas cap (fab a new one). thanks for the tip. i'll drill it first.

I like the non-vented caps myself. Helps me hold onto that fuel a little longer. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif
