I am getting ready to install the place divertor and it is VERY BRIGHT white. The rest of my jet is dingy. What can I paint it with to atleats make it sorta match the new divertor?

I use PPG paint and PPG clear, Though I do know one guy who uses Krylon and waxes it and it looks awesome. I won't tell who it is but he can lay down a coat of krylon better than earl scheib. I have used appliance epoxy too but it did crackle on mine so I don't know. I probably did something wrong. I use aircraft paint remover now to get a good base to start with now. Good luck,
Cy

No, only the steering, the r-bucket, and ride plate. My retarded brother is currently trying to get powder coat off his place diverter to have that and his droop polished. Not a wise Idea in my book and everyone knows how I feel about polished stuff. The water just analiates the polished aluminum.

Johnson outboard "white"
I use automotive wax to clean it and it stays very clean.

I was talking to a guy at Hi-tech performance, where I got the used place divertor, and he said to be sure I dont go over the divertor with more plasti-coat epoxy or it will start bubbling. He said you only get one shot at it, otherwise it will start bubbling, and they stripped it and epoxyed it before they sent it to me. He also said to spray it with some plasti-coat gray primer first, after it is clean.

I have had good luck with the Dupli-color Engine white hi-temp ceramic paint. It seems to be good stuff on the two pumps that I have done !!!! And plan on using it again on the third one !!!

Just did one with appliance epoxy and it wrinkeled BAD, had to strip it. I know many folks have used it with sucsess. Must be some berks have different paints used over the years. Try a small part first, but the funny thing is it did nor wrinkle till the second coat!!!!! Keep that in mind...
Mine wrinkled on the second coat too. It says nothing on the can not to do 2 coats. WTF

I've used the appliance epoxy a few times with success. It does tell you on the can to "re-coat within 1/2 hour or after a week". If you put all your paint on in one shot, waiting a few minutes between coats, you'll have a good chance at a nice finish. Or, you can wait the week(or more in colder weather) before applying more coats. A word of advice if you do use this stuff: COVER EVERYTHING IN YOUR PAINT AREA WELL. This paint makes a total mess!
I think I'm going to try the Johnson Outboard stuff next time I need some underwater hardware done.

Usually you can buy the zinc chromate primer right next to the johnson outboard "white" section. Just allow the primer to dry fully before applying the white. Zinc chromate primer is supposed to be bad stuff but it makes great aluminum primer. I used a respirator with standard organic vapor filters. I think you can get these at home depot and such... Has anyone tried the appliance epoxy in black? Does it come out very shiney? I'm looking for an alternative to the $300+ in materials that it cost me to paint the pump on my Placecraft.

Powder coat it.
I probably should have. It's already been rebuilt, so I guess it'll have to be paint.

Most aerosol epoxy paints only have a live life of about twenty minutes. That means you can spray on several light coats in the first twenty minutes. After that, if you try to apply more paint, it will just bubble, krinkle, or crack. The one week deal does not work with the epoxy paint that we use. It might with other brands though. The instructions will tell you.
