I am building a 350 for one of my employees and would like to know if anyone has info on these #`s. The engine code on the deck is V1026UPK. Can`t find what UPK is. Block #`s are 14093638. Head #`s are 14102193. It came out of a truck with throttle body injection. Supposedly this is a roleer/hydraulic cam. No way, I pulled a lifter and its a flat tappet. My question is I`m going into a Cutlass `86. Removing the 307 and Metric 200. I want to stab my early model block cam and lifters in it. I would also like to use my RPM Performer intake. Will this work? Center bolt valve covers.

Hoss, The middle two intake bolts on both sides of the carb or TBI go in at a little steeper angle on center bolt heads. You can elongate the holes a bit and get bolts in it. Most 87-95 GM truck TBI blocks are drilled for the Lifter retainer (spider) and the cam thrust plate holes are also drilled and tapped for a roller, they were just unused in trucks untill '96 with the introduction of the vortec 5.7. The roller 350's (caprice, roadmaster) and L98 F-body cars used the same block.

What about the heads? They are Vortex not Vortec.

The #'s you listed say they are just plain '87 up 305/350 CB heads. Not sure about vortex.

They seem to have large ports. Should I waste my time shaving them?

When you say GM and speak in a confused manor I have to ask a question. Is this "GM" 350 and Olds unit or Chevy. The 307 is a classic small block Olds (without going into detail)
The Olds 350 (non windowed main) can be a hot little bastard.

In stocker form you will be hard pressed to get a sbc to out do a the sbo. As a matter of fact just look at pure stock and factory stock racing. Check out the numbers on the '68 through '70 Olds A bodies with 350's. It is almost insane..? Nothing but the right cam as with any engine I guess. The RamRod cars and W-31's were neat items and had very lopey cams right form the factory. Dam, it's a treat just to hear one run and know these things were on the streets everyday! Malcom on the boards here was running a W-31 cam in his little 403 boat as a matter of fact...
TANGENT WARNING! :hammerhea
spring fever is killing me
So is this thing an Olds or Chevy 350..?
"NEVERMIND" I re read your first post.... I'm going to stuff myself down the incenerator now.
