Getting ready to put 22's on the misses Tahoe and am curious about tire size... any body run 305/45/22??? any clearence problems.. I'm sure I could run 305/40/22, but would like the extra side wall if it will fit..

We have the 305/45/22 combo on the wifes Tahoe.. Its slightly lowered also. It did rub with the stock fender plastic on..I had to trim a little bit front and rear and its fine now..I would stay with the 45 series if u can..The 40 series ride pretty bad. Hope this helps

I have 22's on my 2002 tahoe. The only problem is the left front. It hits the washer fluid tank.

Mine are on Nitto 305/45/22. They ride great, but the tires are two years old and they are cracking. :rollside:

I have 22*9.5 wheels on Nitto 305/40/22 on a Silverado Crew Cab 1500. I love the ride...its great with or a without a boat in tow. I did trim a small section from the front black plastic crap so it wouldn't rub. I rotate these tires every 5K miles and have put 16K on them in about 8 months--no wear at all, look great. I don't think you can go wrong with either size, but I like the 40s compared to the 45s.

Yes, 25k miles on it and no problems so far. The wife drives it everyday fom Corona to fullerton to Orange and back home the same way.
As far as the ride go going with 22's will change the ride regardless of what size tire. And it still rides better than my lifted F-350.

I would go with the biggest sidewall you can I gaurantee the ride will be better. Especially if your not going to lower it, the wheel well will be more filled out (less of a gap). I have buddys with both 22's and 23's on Tahoes and all that is required a litlle trimming like is mentioned above. I have 20's on my Yukon and just put bigger tires on it and I am absolutely blown away at the difference in ride. I went from a 265 45 20 Toyo to a 285 55 20 Falcon and its a night and day difference. Good Luck!

I got a standard 2WD LS Tahoe with 305/45/22 Nitto NT404's. It rubs a bit up front on driver side just a bit when turning into parking spots. Just a little whirr whirr here and there. It rubs on the plastic which backs up against the windshield fluid reservoir.
I left it, since it's only noticeable in tight turns. Had my wheels and tires for 9 months now. Got a nail in the sidewall and had to shell out $325 for a new tire. Ouch. but worth it.
I have not towed anything with it, but besides the front rub, there's plenty of clearance. Mine actually sits a bit HIGHER than stock.
I checkout out the gear ratio on my tahoe, as well as the weight on the tires and wheels, just to be sure it could handle towing, but I don't see any problems. Again, I have yet to tow anything with my wheels.
Can you tell me how yours tows? What's the weight capacity on your wheels and tires?

I have'nt towed yet.. Don't see it being a problem at all, but I use the Excursion to tow.. Tires on this don't rub at all, kind of surprised me.. as far as the load rating, I will check, and get back to you..
