Was Cobra Jet built by the same folks that later made the Sabre jet, Cos lucasey on Bethel Island made the Sabre jet and I think he said he used to be Cobra Jet. I was about 16/17 at the time my dad had his made by Cos- and at that time it seems thats what I remember. What year is The Cobra? Does it look like this? If I recall he had two styles one with an old school V-drive looking back and this one, which apparenty was a beismeyer bottom splash... The splash rail around the transom (part of the mold) was tall and flaired back at the rear as you can kinda see by the pics...http://www2.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/2035red_boat2_.jpg
Naw, this is a 1979 "GMC Cobra Jet", 16', bottom is a splash of an angle transom Tahiti - top is of unknown origin (to me) - I asked Rich (Old Rigger) about it once, and he couldn't tell me anything either - there's a guy on here that goes by kp216 who has an 18 foot version of mine - maybe he'll post it up? How about it, Kevin?

There ya go, Dragboats - EXACTLY like mine used to be (right down to the colors), just two feet longer, mine's a 16 - my cap's a little different in the center of the transom as well, but there you go...........GMC Cobra Jet (not sure of the GMC tie-in, drive system was Indmar/Olds 350, but NO IDEA other than that....) - lower half on mine is now white gel, still playing with paint/gel ideas for the upper........

Todd,
Why is the boat apart again?
Question for you. How much hp does your motor make and what impeller do you spin and at what rpm? Thanks.
taylorman, the motor dyno'd at roughly 630hp @ 5600rpm and it made somewhere around 650 ft. lb.
the last time i had it in the water i was spinning an AT SS "A" @ 5400rpm, as of the speed that it carried,....who knows?
the motor took a sh*t on me, and had to pretty much start all over in that dept.! lol ( adding some heads, but still same hdwr, new block & crank)
going to turn the boat over and see how the bottom is doing, its been on a trailer for the better part of 4 yrs. so i think its time to see if there is anything that needs to be addressed, it will be my daughters first season in the boat, so i would like the boat to be as safe as i can make it (but still fun for daddy! lol)
does anyone have any idea how fast the boat should be going with the info i have given????
thanks
Todd

Squirtcha,
Where did you Buy or have made the plate to hold you fuel regulator and where does it mount to

I made it. There's a spacer under the plate and I substituted a longer stainless steel intake bolt which goes through the plate/spacer and into the intake/head.
Initially I was a little concerned about it maintaining it's torque, but it hasn't been an issue. I ran it all last year and checked it several times throughout.......... it never loosened up.
