Wife's 2004 Dodge (305/555), 4x4, 4 door, 6' bed, 285/75/17 BFGs, Edge EZ chip, auto tranny, 3.73 gears.
Around town, grocery getting and to work and back (whopping 2 miles one way) she gets 14 to 15. When we take it on vacation on the freeway, we get 18.5 straight up doing 75 mph from here to San Diego.
Helpers or hinderances: the computer chip & bigger tires (just by one size).
I have a buddy in socal area that bought the 2004.5 with the 325/600 Cummins and he is complaining of terrible gas mileage of about 13 in town and 15 on the freeway.
Personally, I think you'll get maybe 0.5 mpg more after 10K miles or so, nothing more. The Edge chip either helps or kills it depending on how you drive it. Hers has a 4" aftermarket exhaust with a free flowing muffler (no cat) and a Scotty III w/ AFE air filter for air intake system. I don't really think those help at all with gas mileage in reality, despite the claims.
It depends on how you drive it.

v-10 and lovin it, mileage, who cares about mileage! seriously I get about 12-13 freeway and havent towed long distance yet. I almost got the diesel and yes It would have been a POWERSTROKE but I went with the v-10 very smooth and quiet, not a daily driver for me. My neighbor has a f-350 with 35's on it and he is seeing about 14mg freeway non towing.

Bone stock Dodge Ram 04 Cali SO 235 Cummins.
Avg = 17.2
Long Haul freeway no towing = 20.5
Towing 26' Gearbox= 14.5
All this is with no lead foot and staying at 70 MPH on Freeway. I am at 23k miles. It has gone up about 2 MPG since new.
Still sucks since Diesel is like .40 more a gallon. :2purples:

99 Dodge Cummins 4X4 quad cab, long bed, auto. Bone stock motor (with the exception of no muffler) with 285 series tires. Around town, 13 - 14 mpg. Highway (70mph) unloaded 19 mpg. Double towing with my heavy ass 28' 5th wheel camper with the 18' jetboat behind it, 10.5 mpg. Unloaded and cruising at 60mph, I get 25 mpg and that's no BS.

 wow that is good! Just wonder if the new 6.0's can pull that kind of mpg with 3.73's and a auto tranny?

Typically, the Cummins' will get better mileage than the rest. Some of it depends on how fast you drive vs. what tires/gears you end up with and what RPM range that puts you in.

Stock 2005 2500 Heavy Duty with the Cummins. Commuting the few weeks I had it in California - 17.5 - 18.0 MPG. That's in 50% bumper to bumper and slow-n-go traffic on the 405 and 110 freeways. Havasu at 80 - 16.8. Haven't towed any real distance yet to notice what that will be. This truck has less than 2,500 miles on it so far and has 4.10 gear in the back. With the 3.73 gear you will do better.
See TurboDieselRegister.com for many more details on the Cummins.

I get bout the same. SO you are full of shit. LOL
I can get 18 on the street and 22 on the highway, but thats driving like a granny. I just wanted to see if I could get it.
Normal driving is what Djunkie posted. If you got a foot, it goes down.
The highway milage goes down quick after 70MPH
