I say that on race gas he pulls 1112hp, on 91 it comes out like 948 or so
Just my guess. If I know Dave, they already made their big number (he is usually pretty close on the tuneup) and they have been messing with lash and jetting trying to squeeze more out of her.
I'm sure someone will call someone and the numbers will be known by tomorrow :D

Is this engine being done by DNE?
DNE will be dyno'ing my engine on April 28th. I can't ****ing wait!!!! :D :D :D

Yup,
This is another DNE motor. I'm sure Joe will be pleased with the results. I'd guess he'll have the fastest of the 20' jet cruisers.... for a while.

03-24-2005, 05:35 PM
Well, I was there with Hustler for the first 6 pulls on his beautiful DNE blower motor and it sure makes a lot of power. I can't spill the beans on what the numbers are, but the last pull I saw on 91 octane (they were going to swap pulleys for the next run but I had to go) was the best and the knowing Dave, it was only going to get better.
HBjet :boxed:

03-24-2005, 08:37 PM
Well I'm F'n happy as hell. The motor made way more than I thought it would. The best run we made on 91 octane was 956hp at 8lbs of boost, we only did did 2 runs on av gas and it made 1001hp at 10lbs of boost, I did'nt have the right pulley combinations to get it up 13lbs where I wanted it but I at least I know it will make more with the right combo on av gas. I will most likley only run it on 91. I want to thank Dave @ DNE for putting together one bad ass little 496 and putting up with my crap for 2 years and Steve @ WesTech for a great day at the dyno. :D

Awesome engine. Do you know if any timing or jetting changes were made when going from pump gas to av gas?

this might be a dumb question but why is belt on one side of the tensioner pulley in 1 pick and the other side in the next? was the pic just taken in while a pully was being changed?
And that motor looks bitchen.

Thanks for all comlpiments guys. On my limited budget this motor has been a long time coming. Now I just need to do a little pump work and replumb the fuel and water and I should be ready by the end of April.

have you made any mods to the hdwr other than the pump,...like bottom work????
what kind of speed are you hoping for???
sorry for the push of questions,...its been a while since anything this interesting! lol

Funds are what slowed this project. The only thing I'm doing is a lttle pump work, you know how heavy my boat is so as far as speed goes I'll be happy to see the 70's ;)
Rob, you guys gonna hang out down in Needles with us this year?

Thats good news Rob. Just make sure to watch your temp constantly. There are only three gauges that really concern me, Water temp, Oil Temp and Oil Pressure. It's going to be a great summer I just hope we can keep a good flow of water this so we can head up river :D

novaguy
03-28-2005, 04:46 PM
Yes, but unfortunately the water temp only measures the liquid temp and not the temp when it is steaming. Therefore, I had autometer custom make me a water pressure gauge to match my other gauges. Now I just have to figure out where the heck to install it and how....lol. Anyone care to help

The boat ran great. The water SUCKED but I still had blast. The boat really pulls hard. I need a bigger chip for my MSD and I need to do some thing about my loader, I could only get about 10lbs of block pressure when I need about 25. All and all I'm pretty happy.
