My trailer has that little gray decal that has the vin on it and it wore out over the last 27 years. You could still see the numbers mostly. I never gave it a secound thought till today at the AZ DMV, after 4hrs waiting, when they said they couldn't read the vin to verifiy. I had no idea what I was going to do. And then I did a search on HB and there was no # listed. Well Jordy of all people helped me out. He is cool no matter what anybody says about him. Well I call Karen at Competitive Trailers Inc and she was a sweet heart. She did not only make me up a new tag she overnighted it Fedex for me. Wow what a bunch of nice people.

Jim, my 1980 Competitive still has the paper tag and the vin stamp. I'll get you a pic a little later today.

I put the new decal in the same place as the old one, as you can see in the pic below. The vin stamp on the trailer is what I am looking for !!!!

The number is stamped into the top of the tube. From the last pic, you can see that the stamped number starts at the left end of the sticker and uses the curve of the tube as its lower reference line.

They had a problem finding mine. The girl said to go back inside and say that I built it myself and I needed a vin and tag. Took about 15 minutes and I had a new vin# and tags. Got the boat registered at fish and game. They don't even need to see it, just need paperwork. They said just put the little tag on the transom (they want you to rivet it in) and put on new numbers.

I scraped the paint off right there and didn't find shit. This makes it real hard to register. I crawled all over the bottom of the trailer looking and no luck.
Thanks for the help guys !!! They had to have stamped the trailer somewhere !!!

Jim , the numbers were not stamped very deep. Maybe someone sanded them smooth when painting the trailer? I say just stamp some new ones on there that match the paperwork.

Jim, My trailer is not stamped either. Just the sticker. Maybe it's a Sanger thing?

Jim you were right about the people at competitive, they sent me a new sticker with the serial #s, and I talked them out of a couple of cool decals too.
