I am still working on selecting a prop for the boat. Even if the one that is on there currently is perfect, a spare is still a good idea. I was wondering if you can tell by looking at a prop if its been labbed or not, the one on the boat now appears to have some milling on the trailing edge of the blades. Is this an indication? are there other things you can see?
Does anyone notice anything here?

Looks non labbed to me.
Like stated the Labbed will be much sharper on the edges and do a way better job of cutting feet that come into contact with it. :crossx:

Blades are to thick, and leading edge is not sharp enough to be labbed.

Now that we know what labbed is
What does labbed do?

If you can shave with it then it's been labbed.

I think speed, but how much, I don't know. Anybody know a place in Havi that does this work?

You can tune the prop to your boat set up. Generally it will help you turn a higher rpm and give you a little more speed. It cuts through the water better.

How much would a pair of labbed 28s go for? Is there a place where I can get some to try out first?
Try skips prop shop here in Havasu. He has loaners he will let you use with a credit card deposit.Doubt you'll find a set of labbed loaners anywhere, unless it's a private party. You should be able to determine by the speed & rpms of the props that work best for you now then dial them in for your specific boat.

What props are you spinning now and at what rpms?

I'm running 26s now. I can get it to 70ish at around 4000. I've never taken it up any higher, but I plane so damn fast that I'm thinking I may need to prop up a little. If I'm going to buy new props, I'd probably want to go labbed. You know how we do it, go big of go home. :D
Your going to have to go WOT, and see where you are in relation to your rev limiter in order to prop it right.

My wife will simply not allow that. :D
Then save your money,I'd see if those 26's will put you at,over or near your limiter and then decide from there if you can spin 28's.you may just need to lab your 26's.Keep in mind in another month you are going to lose rpms.

The speed and rpm I quoted were from last July/August.
Cool, now leave your wife on the dock and run it up to 5000 rpms.
On the way to Roadrunner, not on the way home from Roadrunner. :D
See where your rpms are @WOT and trimmed to the sweet spot.

I'll try to get a couple runs in this weekend without her in the boat.
I have a labbed 26 RT hand you are welcome to try if you can find the other one.

You will be happy with those batteries. But you just gave up 5mph,I say worth every MPH when you never run out of battery.

just had my prop labbed last month at Bronson Hill in Santa Ana. I was turning 48-4900 rpms running mid 60's. B/H changed the parabolics (sp) of the prop to get the max rpms out of the motor. The prop no longer has the chrome finish, it has a satin finish now. The prop hubb has no more markings (Bravo1 and serial #) IMO worth every penny. Call B/H, tell him what performace your looking for and what performance you have now, he will help you make an educated decision before you spend the $$$.
I have B/H phone # in the truck, i'll post it in the am for you.

Wow....."70 mph @ 4k" ...........and on plane "so damn fast that I'm thinking I may need to prop up a little".
Sounds like the perfect setup to me....leave the prop alone!!!
