Use a full synthetic. I can't remember the brand but I use a red colored grease that supposed to be the absolute best. Its in a silver can. Never seen it at Pepboys though. I bought it from the company that blueprinted by pump

Any brand of red bearing grease labled EP-2. Don't use marine grease for anything to do with the pump or driveline, it is parafin based and cannot handle the application.

Now I remember. The brand is NEO. Get the marine based waterproof stuff. Their web site is www.neosynthetic.com (http://www.neosynthetic.com)

I'm not sure if you can pump the old grease out. I think you can mix the two types but check with mfg.
The only real way of getting rid of the old grease is to pull the pump and clean the housing and bearing.
Might as well rebuild, balance, and blueprint if your going this route. It would be a lot of work just for new grease.

That was kinda my point, I plan on getting the reworked soon so maybe I'll just wait.
