Me being a Chevy fan in my younger years, My first Ford product (460) came with my jet boat purchase. I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance and durability of the 460 Ford! I'm currently Running a 460 .030 over with TRW 2443NF pistons (dome), 92cc heads converted to screw in studs/guideplates, Crane roller rockers, Comp Cams Magnum marine 292H & kit, Torker II Edelbrock and 850 Holley carb. Engine is balanced and with minor cyl head porting on the exhaust side. Boat is a 18' low profile hull with a Berkley jc pump and B cut impeller. performance wise the engine spins to 5500 RPM easily and gps at 74.1 mph. Anyone have similar success with a Ford?

Chevy here, 454 slug but I'm working on it. Wanna race? 1/4 mile maybe? I'll need a handicap though, I think a 1200ft head start should do (I hope)

hmmmm, let me see. 1 mile is 5,280ft which makes 1/4 mile about 1,320ft. I'm starting 1200ft ahead of you with about 120ft to go.
Ok, I'll race ya for a Pepsi plus bragging rights.

Ok here is the deal you start from a dead stop with your motor off , I start from a running start of about 200ft before the start line when I get to the line you can start your motor. Dont have your hat on, when I go by you it will fly off!!

Running a 460 Ford in a 1976 Kachina Custom. Near as I can tell it's never been apart. Still runs 60+. I'll run it til it dies. No complaints on the big blue oval. I don't have any loyalty to one or the other. I've pretty much owned a little of everything and they all had their good and bad. Chevy, Mopar, Mercury, Ford, etc. Alot seems to depend on how you take care of em.

Infinitejj,
aww, come join in, I've got a 21' Tahiti with a basically stock 454 Chev with a Panther jet. It has almost enough HP left to get out of it's own way, the clearances in the jet are close enough to put your finger through and the steering cable is kept together with hose clamps. It looks pretty good though.

You give me hope. I have a 77 18 1/2 ft. challenger hull and will have the same 460 set up except no roller rockers. My probblem is though, I am running a golden eagle pump a.k.a. jacuzzy. i only get 55mph at 5,500 rpm. the pump is set with the inspection plate outside the transom. Any suggestions?
love the 460, hate the pump.

www.hi-techperformance.com (http://www.hi-techperformance.com) can set you up with a good pump as your jacuzzy is doing all it can do ..You can get it to do about 65 but that is it. With a lot of work !

I am running a 460 DIVE block w/ DOVE heads. Lunati cam for jet boats. Crane roller rockers, I ground the emissions "humps" out of the exhaust port. Edelbrock RPM Performer, 750 Holley(mechanical, dual feed, double pump, out of the box, removed ckoke butterfly), blocked off heat risers in the heads, 2" spacer(top half 4 holes, bottom half dual plane), Mallory electronic w/ high Fire 4c box, Holley elec. pump because Lunati didn`t grind the lobe for mechanical pump. Edelbrock double roller.

Edelbrock double roller. Always ran Chevy motors till now. After 34 years on this rock I now know 1 thing is for certain. I`ll never buy a Chevy again. I enjoy not spending all my free time under the hood or bondoing rust. All my Chevy vehicles I was fighting the war on rust and losing. Ford makes a better vehicle and motor/drive train. In my experienced opinion anyway. And oh yeah, I was a line tech for GM for 5 years,ASE certified, not a master mechanic(lack AC), but none the less experienced.
