prop clearence?

How much clearence is needed between prop and blast plate? Does it matter much at all ?
Mostly what im asking is what is to close? 1/8 ? 1/4 inch? or ?
This is for a v-drive flatbottom. I would think at least enough if the bushing
came out prop would not hit.

We run 3/8" on our flats, reason being it takes some of the heat and wear and tear on prop blades tips. It will add life to your prop. If you are relying on the wall thickness of the bushing you are way too close. :idea: Kristina and Mike

I just went outside and checked...My new prop checks out 5/16 and my old prop was 3/8. Is 5/16 going to be ok ?

It should be ok, but watch the prop for erosion and wear. :D
