couple questions...
1. U-joint angle should Should the shaft from the pump be level with the center of the fly wheel or...???
2. should the front of the motor sit higher then the rear or make it level with the rails that go on the stringers.
thanks bryce

Set it at the angle of the pump that will make the front of the motor sit higher than the back.

I prefer 2ยบ, pump shaft and crankshaft parallel.

How exact do you want to be?Are you going to set it by eye or by*.
While some will say it is a ujoint and made to have abend in it.Some will say they have ran theirs stright with no problems.
While keeping it mostely in line with your pump put the motor off a * or 2 and it still will be higher in the front and no wories about the ujoints being to stright.

Run Ur Driveline As Straight As U Can. Funk All That " A Little Angle Is Good 4 The U Joints Crap". U Will Never Wear Out The U Joints. If U Do, U Have Other Problems. Besides, Angle On The Driveline Is Bad For The Pump, & When A Bearing Goes Bad In The Pump From Running An Angle, It Will Be More Painfull Than Replacing The U Joints. As Far As How U Set Up The Rails, It Dont Mater If U Run Them Staright, With The Plates Cut To Angle The Motor Or If U Set The Rails In At An Angle & Run The Motor Plates Straight Up.

i always run the motor lower in the front than rear so when you boats on plane the motor is pretty much level on set and that will also let you lock in you shaft with some degree so you wont have no vibrations and make sure the shaft is straight from side to side also youll be good i always go with the measurement of from front to rear on rail is that the rear is 3/8 higher than the front over a 48 inch spread that will put your joints on about 2or3 deg lock out if you dont lock joints down they will come out been there and done that good luck keep it all staight

Mounted mine with the crankshaft directly inline with the pump shaft. Slid a rod with nylon bushings through the crank journals in a mock up block and aligned it with the pump shaft.
