Biker Build Off

I just saw the Biker Build Off Awards on Discovery. I gotta say, the made for TV stuff gets a little old but, I did really enjoy seing some of the work.
Hats off to Matt Hotch, Fullerton-based Hot Match Cycles, he won it all. As far as bikes go, I'm in to the daily riders, maybe that is because can't afford a balls-out custom, but Matt's work is first rate. All of those builders on the show do beautiful work.
Does anyone else have any favorites? :idea:

It just cracks me up that the newer style "hot rod" billet, big tire, sleek, wicked, full suspension customs loose out the the old school rigid frame, ape hanger, wire wheel choppers. Some of those new style bike builders are pretty talented.

I don't know that there was one that I didn't like, but like boats, it all comes down to personal preference. For me, bikes and boats are about utility, they need to do a lot of things well rather than excell in one area in particular. But again, that's just me.

I thought all the bikes were nice. Just like you said it comes down to taste. Matts bikes are first rate and alot goes into them but almost any of those bikes I'd take! :D
Oh Yeah some dude was wearing one of my shirts on the hotch vs. fairless buildoff...hahaha that was cool!

Matt Hotch, 2nd year in a row. He builds a super clean bike. I heard the one he built last year sold for $250K. His name is definately on the map for sure now.

Personally, I like the bikes that Joe Martin builds the best. I just like the fact that everything is done in house. I am more impressed with his painting ability over his fabrication skills.
