I thought I heard something like 135ish++ for Jay's 42' poker runner. Let's not forget the debut of the all aluminum SL44 prototype that Rock-it Man is taking out there. Light weight, 5 steps, with BEASTLY 572's & surface drives I think.....
Damn I wish I was headed out there.

I think he runs out of steam right around 125
Knowing Jay and his heavy throttle hand I would say he will be towards the front of the V crowd;) :crossx:

Jay's boat runs pretty good for a 35' boat with 7' of transom notch, swimstep, and beak.

Don’t know the speed as it is just been re-rigged, he had 525’s in it before and it ran 100 plus.

So here's the real question...if i take my boat and glue a 5' 2x4 to the nose...
...is it now a 40'er?

Man...I could have saved alot of money!
Take my old 23' boat, put a 1' notch in the transom, 2' of swimstep, and 3' of "bow extendor" and I would have a 29'er!
How much are 29' Fountains, anyway?

be nice to see some real offshore running,,
Miami to Bahamas and back like the old days..
couple hundred miles of 5-7ft seas..
Dont think todays lightweight "nearshore"
raceboats are made for that anymore though..
At least one a year would be cool for those willing to brave it...

No, I was not one of the ones over 100 unfortunatly. I seen 80's in my boat loaded to the max. I was refering to any boat I radared. Cat or V while was floating in front of black meadows. The reason I was not in the Poker run was I thought it would be cool to watch all the boats fly by doing 150mph plus, but that did not even come close. Once most boats in my catagory came by I ran back up to the Nautical with them. That was fun! Rough as heck up near Steamboat and beyond.

BUT, the driving you described in the Sandbar was worse than novice...it was dangerous. I really hope you don't hurt or kill someone with the way you roll on the water. Since this is the Offshore forum and not the Shore by the Lake forum I can say that in a real open ocean race fewCats will have a chance against a well setup Deep V.
Even in close shore races youll see the cats pull on the inside part of the course and then fall back on the outside part if the water isnt relatively flat.
Problem is "Offshore" racing has become lets go in circles right by the beach racing. Even todays Racing Deep Vs would have a problem in any open ocean race against the old school battlewagons. Have a Miami to Bimini run, run the PROA races at PR (especially Ponce ), Texas to Cancun run or as was said above the Catalina run and its a whole other ballgame.

I have the boat stored in Havasu, but I keep it here for June-August so I can take it out in the ocean during the summer. Anytime you guys wanna do a local trip, that's fine by me. I might see 1MPG on the truck's computer trying to get her up to Pyramid, though...lol.

Well it had some handling issues either due to the water pickup location for the innercooler or not having the hatch on it. So teague moved the water pickup and gave it to us to use for the weekend but we weren't sure if all the handling bugs were worked out and we didnt wanna go for a swim at 85 so we took it easy. But i think its running fine now, they just gotta adjust some things on the engine and do some more prop testing.
