I know there are a lot of us heading up to Havasu this weekend and I thought it would be fun to get a group of us to the go-kart track. So lets figure this out.
First off what evening works best for everyone?
Secondly how fast are they and do they get mad if you are drunk?
Lastly do any of you really think you can take me? :D

I'm in........ Been there a few times and those things go pretty good. As far as drunk, since I don't drink I wouldn't know, but i'm sure it would be entertaining. I'm good for Saturday or Friday.

Havasu Hot Laps rocks.
I don't think you're supposed to drive those carts when you're hammered but Kim Hanson poured himself into one. He was also asked to leave the track after a string of 'incidents'.
I had a ton of fun there.

O.K. I'm leaning towards Friday, but lets just see what works for everyone else

It sounds like Saturday would be the best for everyone, so now we need to get a running list of people and time. I was thinking sometime after 6:30, later the better so everyone has plenty of time to get back from the lake.

I am in with RedRider. We will be up there with the new babies, so we will either bring them and the better halves, or leave them at home and sneak over for some racing.
Good luck beating me! I am the 5 time National Champion go-kart racing guy......

See you on the water, and then on the track!

With the new boat?
I am thinking that there is a strong possibility of that, but probably won't have the Raylar kits installed by then. Unless there is a big hang-up with mufflers not being available or something like that, I should be done in the next (2) weeks.

I was kidding as well, I do drive shifter karts from time to time, and my Cousin Patrick Long was one of the best American drivers in history, but I don't think any of it rubbed off on me. I've never driven these before, how fast do they go and how many people can race at a time? Also how strict are they on punting the guy in front of you :D

riverracerx
04-05-2005, 09:14 AM
faster than you would expect! Fast enough. I have driven them intoxicated before (did I say that) and I had better lap times than when sober, go figure. They won't let you spin out, or bash the hell out of the next guy. But I have done some rubbin' Cause "rubbin's racin'" But they will toss you for flagrant bashing. It is a cool place though. You can run about 10-12 at a time I think. Better with a full track anyhoo. Bring your credit card. It aint cheap, but worth it. I am good for two races then my cash runs out.
See you there!

Is there an arcade there or anything for kids to do? I am going with just my kids this weekend and this sounds like a good time.

riverracerx
04-05-2005, 12:54 PM
Yes, they have a small arcade.
They also have mini cars for the little kids 4-7 yrs. and a little circle track.
And they have slower bigger carts for the 7-12ish kids. on the big track.

As far as the Raylar kit goes..... not installed yet, hoping to have it done for the weekend. Basically all the parts are there Aaron is ready to go but is waiting on some parts that Magic had to replace. The parts should be in today or tomorrow and they Aaron will complete. Keeping my fingers crossed for the weekend, we will see....

Under 7 years old have to ride the electric cars
7 to 10 ride the mini cars, but have to take a two hour class first to get a card to let them drive the minis. They only do the class on Wednesdays or by appointment. Mini's don't run on Saturday nights at all.
Junior cars are for 10 to 15 year olds, no class required.
Adult cars are for 16 and up.
It's worth it to become a member, $25.00 gets you $12 races and includes a race. So if you plan on racing three races it pays for itself. Plus you get discount races on other days by being a member.

That's funny, I did exactly about the same thing !! It is all Chris' (RRX) fault for not showing with name tags and such, next time we will have to organize it better :argue:

Hot laps is great. I did have to wonder about the accuracy of the results sheet. That was a lot of fun and a pretty good work out. I was surprised.
Not one of those places that you put your foot in and leave it. Never got past stabbing the brake.

You know the funny thing is I saw a bunch of your boats throughout the weekend but I was never really sure if it was indeed who I thought it was. As for the karting I'll be the first to admit that I was pretty late and didn't see anyone waiting around. I think INSman is right next time we will have to organize a little better, maybe have a specific meeting point or something.

Where was everyone? I got there at 8:00 and met up with Red Rider, Rvrholic, B*Rock and HP Lavey. We ran two races and left about 9:20.
I have pics but forgot my download cable today at work.
Oh, and I got first, not to brag or anything. And for some reason I seem to remember KC ending up in the wall? :D

I seem to remeber that too, i also have a gnarly bruise on my side to prove it. In my defense.... we were pretty hammered from doing shots all day at the turtle. Tend to get more hammered when you are land locked....
