Show me your shifter.... uh, yeah, that doesn't sound right.. :notam:
I need some better ideas on how to relocate my gate controls/shifter. Here's my current set-up

Behind the upholstery (what's left of it) it looks like someone tried to mount it to the gunwale. However, when I put it in that existing hole, the shaft on the shifter wasn't long enough. <--- OK, that didn't sound right either.. :devil:
Anyways, show me some better ways to mount this sucker...

Well, for one, the wood's starting to rot out. So I guess because of that, the shift action just doesn't feel solid. The cable is probably starting to move around a bit. Plus, I kinda want to get it mounted up a bit farther.

Flip, It's my guess that the shifter was mounted up high in the other hole prior to somebody installing that side panel. The "shaft" on the shifter isn't long enough to slide through the gunwale(sp) and the upholstery. I'm sure that side pannel has a wood backing, see if you can cut some of the wood out and then sandwich just the uhpolstery inbetween the shifter and the gunwale. I'd remove a bit of the wood backing and the foam, leaving jus the vinyl and mount it up high. :)

The use of this product will solve your problem. Just bolt the shifter through to this and it will stop the movement.
