A buddy of mine is looking for a boat. Has been considering the 26 eagle open bow. The lavey craft 2750 and the Hallett 260 open bow.
If it were up to you and this was your budget what would you do? Singles or duals. 26ft -30ft. Power??? New or Used?
thanks for all the info?

The 25' Shockwave Tremor is a bigger boat than the 26 Eliminator Eagle and could be had with a HP525, monster sound system and all the trick sh!t for under $100K. Check it out

Assuming he wants to stay with those three builders, I'd pony up some extra dough and go with the Hallett 270 (http://www.hallettboats.com/270-s.html), $99k for a 525 before any additional options. Of course, there is also the Howard 28 and we like our 29 Essex.

Thanks for the info!
He is considering all manufactures. Wants to stay with a V but would like to at least 70 out of the boat. Something that will handle major weekend water at havasu.

If it was up to me I would take Roll the Yo's boat as well.
I should of also mentioned that this will basically be his first boat. He originally wanted a cat. I didn't think that was a very good idea. For me yes for him no.

$100,000 will get you a Howard 28 Bullet with 496.

I would call the guys down at extreme marine (Streamline boats) in Phoenix and see what they could do for me. They build streamlines on the spot they and could build a fully custom boat for you or they have a couple down there I think that are completed. ;)

Have you looked at Nordic? the 28' is easily under 100k and is a great Havasu boat.

I'd have him go down to the Boat show this Thurs-Sun at the Anaheim show and have each builder show you what 100K will get you.... quick comparision shopping...

That might be OK but why not step up to an STV EuroSki/Merc 280 and then you'd really have something.

Go for a single engine 30 ft. eliminator, shockwave or sunsation with a hp 500.
All these are great boats. Lavey is nice. But it's hard to find a used one. I'd get one no older than 3 years.

I would look at the 29' or 27' Warlock / 30 ' Eliminator Eagle / Sunsation / 29' Magic Wizard. I would buy as much engine as I could afford. If nothing else, get at least the 496HO and plan a modification after the one year warranty.
And I would look around for something used. There are some good buys if you hunt for them. Boat trader online is pretty good.
Good luck!! Really fun to shop for the next boat!!
Let us know what you decide.

Damn, a $100k is a hell of a budget for his first boat. IMO...I'd really consider used. That kind of money will easily find him a nice boat with decent power in the 26' to 30' range. But if he must have new there is lot's of different builders to check out with boats in that size and price range. Tell him not to forget to check out Ultra. There 28' Stealth is a nice boat and it's definitely under a 100k.

If someone handed me 100,000.00 right now I'd blow it on a new 21' schiada RC. Yup, I'd come up with the other 60K out of my pocket to do it right.
what a sickness, at least I can dream.
